Fiat Teases Us With Fiat 500 Abarth Videos

Posted in Fiat, LA Auto Show by Kurt Ernst | November 3rd, 2011 | 3 Responses |

We’re still two weeks away from the official U.S. debut of the Fiat 500 Abarth, but Fiat is dropping plenty of images and videos of the car prior to its Los Angeles Auto Show reveal. We like the first video below and fully embrace it’s concept of “go faster than yesterday,” but the second video leaves us shaking out heads at Fiat’s U.S. marketing.

Small cars typically don’t draw in adult male buyers in this country, and calling a diminutive, 135-horsepower hot-hatch a “rebel,” an “outcast” and a “bad boy” isn’t going to change that fact. We’d rather the marketing department skip the hype and focus on what the Fiat 500 Abarth is quite likely to be: the best handling and most entertaining front-wheel-drive car on the market today.

Now this is what I’m talking about. When the 500 was announced, I was intrigued, but I really was holding out for the Abarth. I’m quite excited about this little car.

Set, I agree. I’m looking forward to driving the 500 Abarth as much as I was to driving the Challenger 392 or Mustang Boss 302.

They’re much different cars, but both are equally entertaining to me.

abarth has to be the coolest brand in the biz as far as name and logo is concerned atleast, i just think that they are cars for a different generation when safety legislations didnt make cars heavy so they could do what the Abarth 1000 or the abarth 205. still i wouldnt mind owning one of these little buggers.
