For those of you in the U.S. somewhat confused by our repeated exhalation of anything bearing the Abarth tag, understand that Abarth is to Fiat what AMG is to Mercedes. If you aren’t sure what AMG is, perhaps you should be reading Ladies Home Journal instead.
At any rate, in celebration of Abarth’s triumphant revival, Fiat has introduced the Fiat Abarth 500 Competizione Limited Edition. Intended exclusively for the Dutch market, only 10 models of the Fiat Abarth 500 Competizione will be produced yet will sport a relatively modest price tag of just €25k. Beneath the hood the 500 Comepitizone remains untouched, featuring the same 135-bhp 1.4L 4-banger found beneath the bonnet of the standard Fiat 500.
As noted in the photographs, the “exclusive” nature of the 500 Compeitizone comes courtesy of the aesthetic revisions. The exterior receives the full Abarth treatment, with a unique black roof, Abarth graphics package, and 17″ alloy wheels. Inside, the 500 Competizione is stocked with a premium technology package featuring an upgraded sound system, advanced climate system, SatNav, and GPS. Continuing the “unique” theme, the 500 Compeitizone is also finished stem to stern in black “Competizione”-embossed leather.
Although Fiat has made it clear the commemorative 500 will be limited solely to the Dutch market, rumors have already begun to circulate that a similar version might be released later in the UK.
