This is the Ferrari 458 GT2 and it’s coming for your soul. The harrowing image of the rip-snorting stallion appeared on the Net a few days ago and is currently striking fear into the heart of GT2 racers everywhere. According to sources close to the company, the demon-horse was recently unleashed on Ferrari’s Fiorano test track, where it howled and screamed for blood.
Ferrari revealed the 458 Challenge just a few minutes ago. It’s an even sharper and more insane version of the already loony-fast 458, featuring an upgraded gearbox and racy suspension. It’ll be raced in Ferrari’s one-make challenge next year.
Now it looks like the Italian beastmasters are ready to release the 458 GT2 from its cage into the wide world of Le Mans racing. The racer replaces the F430 GT2, which has racked up wins at the FIAT GT Championship and the American Le Mans Series.
Due to GT2 regulations, the 458 GT2’s V8 will put out about 470 horsepower and will weight 2,745 pounds. Sadly, that’s 30 fewer horsepower and 60 more pounds than the F430 GT2. Keep in mind, however, that all GT2 cars must adhere to the regulations.
According to Jalopnik, the 458 GT2 will cost €480,000, excluding VAT. Start saving.
