I would think that owning a car like the Porsche 911 would be a wonderful thrill. First off you know that you are driving one of the best built sports cars ever made, and secondly every time you look at it your basically viewing an automotive icon. The Porsche 911, originally born the Porsche 901, was brought into the world by this man, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, grandson of Porsche founder Ferdinand Porsche. Released back in 1963 I sincerely doubt that Mr. Porsche thought that his design would become one of the most iconic in all automotive history. Over the past 48 years the Porsche 911 has gone through 12 or so refreshes. I say refreshes because the car itself has never been truly redesigned, but more or less improved upon over the last half century.
Alexander Porsche joined the Porsche design team in 1962 where remained until 1972. From there he stepped down and founded the Porsche Design Studio, where his creativity was sourced out to the rest of the world in the form of independent product design. Today, Dec 11th the Father of the 911 turns 75 years old, so from all of us here at Ridelust.com, we say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
