eBay Deal of the Week: 1966 Corvair Crown Conversion

Posted in Chevrolet, Domestic Rides, eBay Motors, Promoted by MrAngry | October 7th, 2013 | 2 Responses |

Wouldn’t it have been great if the United States had one truly great mid-engine sports car? I mean yes, there was the Ford GT40, Ford GT and of course the Pontiac Fiero (that sucked though), but just imagine if American manufacturers really had their act together and created something awesome. What you are seeing here is a 1966 Corvair Crown V8 conversion. The engine is a 350 cu-in ZZ4 small block with a hydraulic cam and aluminum heads, the interior is in marginal condition at best, and the performance? According to the owner the car is sensational, has plenty of power and drives like a slot car. Check out more pics after the jump or go directly to the eBay Motors ad below. The /DRIVE Network’s BIG MUSCLE recently did an episode on a Crown Corvair that was in a word, awesome. So make sure to check that out as well.

You obviously know nothing about Corvairs. I autocrossed a 1967 model and was never defeated by any American V-8. No Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, AMX or any American car ever. At one time I went three years without losing to anything.

This had the normal flat six, somewhat improved and was always the car to beat in the sedan class. Once, I even set fastest time of the day at a Corvette Club even (Greater Dayton Corvette Club).

The Corvair was the best American Sedan, ever. At the time, I also owned a 1968 Shelby GT500 KR. Except in a straight line, the Corvair was faster.

    Yes. I do have pictures.
