eBay Car (Truck?) Of The Day: Ford Ranger SHO

I am a Taurus fan and I always have been, especially of the SHO. I’m also a big fan of custom cars, but I’m not sure why anyone would mash an SHO and a Ford Ranger together.

Still, it’s been done, by some guy in Iowa who apparently needed the truck bed but loved his SHO engine too much to give it up.

According to the seller:

This is a very rare vehicle and to my knowledge there has never been another one made. The front end is a 1994 ford SHO taurus and the back end is that of a ford ranger. The car runs great and is a smooth ride. It has received 5 first places in 5 shows that it has been in. The only negatives are that it needs some minor fabrication work with the interior which I show in the pictures. It’s an awesome car to drive and is definitely an eye catcher!

  1. Well I’ll admit, at first I was thinking “It’s placed in shows? Sponsored by who, the Ringling Brothers?” But you know, if you can get past the “Why” aspect of it, it’s actually possible to appreciate it as a pretty impressive mod job.

  2. It’s the return of the Ford Ranchero. Someone might have shown Ford a better idea. If time hasn’t run out for the designers at Ford to consider learning from a customizer, this might be something for them to buy and take into the studio to study.

Throw a hybrid drivetrain underneath and you’d have a Ranchero for the 21st Century.

  3. I believe Ford used 100 ranger trucks as ”mules” to test the SHO engine for highway miles etc. before introduction.
