Ducati Needs More $73,000 Dollar Bikes – Recession? Says Who?
The Ducati Desmosedici RR replica is it, the holy grail of two-wheeled speed machines. Supremely fast, rare, and expensive, it’s an almost perfect replica of the bike racers like Loris Capirossi rode at the MotoGP. Complete carbon fiber bodywork, 4 cylinder liquid-cooled, dual-overhead cam engine that puts out almost 200 hp, endless high-end technology. And all that for just $72,500 dollars.
Ducati planned to offer only 1,200 of the bikes this year, with 300 headed for the US, but they sold each and every one. And you though we had an economic crisis. Either way, it turns out they had a few extras hidden away.
Ducati had a few more RRs stashed away under someone’s bed for just such an occasion. “We are fortunate to offer a few units to those interested individuals who were closed out of the initial ordering process,” Michael Locke, CEO of Ducati North America. “We have secured inventory to deliver in the coming months”
No word yet on how many more Desmosedicis Ducati will be releasing into the wild, but if you wanted a $72.5k ultimo-bike and just missed the deadline, you’re in luck.
