2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ: RideLust Review
When we first heard that rental car companies like Hertz were going to offer electric vehicles in their rental fleets all we could envision were a bunch of pissed-off customers stuck on the side of the road. I mean lets face it, for most people electric vehicles simply don’t yet provide the range and or practicality of a standard petrol powered automobile. Sure they’re great around town, but travel too far from a wall outlet and well, you’re screwed. Enterprise Rent-a-Car seems to feel the same way I do as they are now renting out the 2011 Chevrolet Volt in their Ontario, California branch. The Volt is now available for a daily or weekly rental and gives customers a true green alternative with the extended range capability that most people are looking for. They also have plans to offer electric vehicles throughout their entire West Coast chain from Washington to Arizona.
What’s great about being able to rent cars like the 2011 Chevrolet Volt is that it now gives potential consumers who may be on the fence about electric vehicles the chance to take them on a week long extended test drive if they so choose. It makes sense for the rental company, the consumer and the auto manufacturer. Now, I would expect to pay a premium to drive these, but if you’re interested in an electric vehicle then it is a great way to get acquainted with them.
