When the Porsche Boxster was released way back in 1996 it was immediately dubbed “the poor mans 911″. It was a girls car and like the Porsche 914 of yesteryear, it supposedly wasn’t fit to wear the Porsche shield. In reality this couldn’t have been farther from the truth as the Boxster always was, and still is, a drivers car. It’s mid-engine configuration meant the car was extremely well balanced which, in the end, equated to a great handling, albeit a bit under powered, little roadster. It’s now 2012 and for the first time in its history the Boxster has been completely remade into a car that’s well, still superb. Chris Harris of the DRIVE network recently had the opportunity to put the new Boxster threw its paces and came away not only impressed, but confident that the Boxster will continue to live on for quite some time.
