Sometimes even the most innocent of ideas can be turned inside out by a group of nutball activists. Take this very recent commercial by Dodge for their annual “Tent Event” which is narrated by Michael C. Hall. At the end of the commercial a little monkey shows up for a bit of tongue and cheek old school humor. The monkey was not abused, blown up, or run over. Nor did the monkey dance, run amok or for that matter, even act like a monkey. All the little guy did was push down a fake plunger on an old TNT device. Well… that was apparently too much for the crazies at PETA to handle as they penned an open letter to Dodge stating:

“given the well-documented abuse that young chimpanzees and orangutans suffer in the entertainment industry.” PETA goes on to write, “Dodge isn’t going to dodge a bullet on this one. It needs to pull the ad — and we’ve contacted the company asking it to do just that.”

Dodge, now feeling the pressure from the PETA weenies promptly responded with a new ad that is in my opinion, brilliant. Way to go guys…

I hadn’t seen it either. I love Dodge’s new advertising company. I wish every ad on TV was this good. Seriously. I’d actually ditch TiVo.
