Riding a motorcycle in the rain is an acquired taste, since it demands a lot of attention and the careful application of throttle, brakes and steering input. In other parts of the world, like China, riding in the rain is a necessity, not merely an inconvenience. Still, with proper gear like a decent rain suit, you can arrive at your destination in reasonably dry condition.
That’s why we’re failing to see the genius behind the motorcycle rider tent, discovered on Carscoop. Sure, it doubles as an outhouse, too (really, there’s proof in the video), but it also acts as a sail. Down here, at least, rain is often accompanied by strong winds, the kind that could easily push you in front of an oncoming semi if you’re dumb enough to wear something with the surface area of a house.
We’ll stick to our Aerostitch suit, which keeps us dry and saves our hide in the event of a crash. It doesn’t double as an outhouse, but we’re okay with finding the nearest tree in an emergency.
Why is the lady wearing a mask?! Maybe she doesn’t want to be seen with the guy who invented the motorcycle sail…
