For automotive manufacturers racing is an integral part of production line automobile development. Technology that is developed for track and race applications is filtered down into production line models and helps make them not only perform better, but makes the automobiles safer and more reliable as well. Over the past 10 years the Chevrolet Corvette has gone through a major evolution from a high performance sports car to a world class super car, with the majority of its new technology and development coming from Chevrolet’s racing program. What’s astounding is the amount of actual research and development that goes into these automobiles. So for those of you who think a Corvette is just a car for balding, middle aged men who wear gold chains, you’d best think again.
