It seems like just yesterday that Ford’s Boss 302 Mustang was the darling of the pony car world. On the road course it slaughtered the Camaro SS and Dodge Challenger and won praise from just about every automotive journalist who drove it. It’s now 2012 and Chevrolet decided that they weren’t going to take their ass-whoopin’ lying down. In fact they decided to come out and beat Ford at their own game by creating the new for 2012, Camaro ZL1. It packs a stump pulling 580 hp/556 lb-ft of torque as compared to the Mustangs 444 hp/380 lb-ft of torque. It also has a race tuned suspension with IRS, a wider track and a look that’s nothing short of sinister. The question remains though, which car is better at the track, the Boss 302 Mustang or Chevy’s new ZL1. Click through to find out.
