Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz Run Top Gear Test Track.

This past weekend Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were in the UK promoting their new movie Night and Day, and as luck would have it they decided to stop by the Top Gear studio and say hello to their fans. First they met Jeremy, then the Stig and then to top it off they took a spin on the Top Gear test track. Being one of the biggest action stars on the planet means Tom Cruise has some time behind the wheel of a car. Cameron Diaz has been in a few action flicks as well so she’s also got some skills. The big question however was how would they do when pitted next to the other stars in reasonably priced cars? Click play to find out…

How Fast Is The Lexus IS-F? Fast Enough To Stop Time

I’m all for entertaining car ads, but this South African ad for the Lexus IS-F, found on AutoSpies, leaves me baffled. I get the whole time / space thing, and I understand the basic concept of time slowing down as you approach the speed of light. I’m not sure I buy into the Lexus IS-F being fast enough to accomplish this, even if it’s only by 1/1000 of a second.

Of course this does bring up other concerns for me as well, like what happens if I tear a sheet of paper and inadvertently split an atom? Car commercials should never make you think this much, instead, they should focus on what they do best, which is using sex to sell cars. What this ad clearly needs is more cleavage and less science.

Professional Racer In SUV Versus Hot Model In Evo X: Who Wins?

Here’s the deal: take former IndyCar driver Roger Yasukawa, give him a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and have him turn the best time possible at Willow Springs. Next, take smoking hot Alicia Whitten, give her a Mitsubishi Evo X SE, and see if she can beat Roger’s lap time in the Outlander. Any guesses as to who wins this battle?

Reminder: Motorsports Can Be Hazardous To Your Health

As the driver of the Fox bodied Mustang shows in this video from Bangshift, sometimes regaining traction is even worse than losing it, especially when your car isn’t pointed where you want it to go. The impact from the V8 Vega is massive, and the resulting fire is pretty puckering stuff. As bad as it is to be in a wrecked race car, it’s even worse to be in a flaming, wrecked race car.

Financial considerations aside, this story has a happy ending. Both drivers escaped serious injury, a testament to well built roll cages and stout racing harnesses.

Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz to appear on Top Gear.

Regardless if you like Tom Cruise or not there is no denying that he is one of the biggest actions stars on the planet earth. He is also very big on doing all his own stunts, a trait that most action hero’s shy away from. Recently Tom Cruise and co-star Cameron Diaz were in England pimping out their new movie “Night and Day” when they decided to stop by the Top Gear test track where they did a few laps with the Stig.

Show writer Richard Porter explains:

“Back in 2002 when we were planning New Top Gear, we used to reflect on the newly minted idea of a star in a Reasonably Priced Car and cackle quietly to ourselves. “Tom Cruise!” we would smirk. “Tom Cruise in a crappy Korean hatchback!”

That was the gag: massive A-list celebrities finding themselves shoehorned into the kind of car they’d normally never be seen dead in. The whole thing was deliberately preposterous. And so, frankly, was our dream of getting the world’s biggest movie actor into an affordable mid-range car.”

Well now it seems the dream is a reality because Cruise and Diaz are said to be gracing Top Gear during this weekends airing.

Dwayne Johnson Rocks a Wicked Chevelle in “FASTER”.

YES!!! Another movie with muscle cars, strippers, guns and police chases… PERFECT! Coming out November 24 and starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Billy-Bob Thorton, “Faster” is a movie that looks like it will deliver the automotive goods. We’ve got an old 1970 Chevelle SS, a 1966 GTO, police cars and a few totaled Ferrari’s which means it has all the makings of becoming a good cult classic. The premise of the movie is simple. Our main character (Dwayne Johnson) was in prison due to a botched bank robbery where his brother was killed. Once released from the big house however Johnson grabs the keys to his old Chevelle and proceeds to wreak havoc on the guys that got his brother killed. From the looks of the teaser trailer “Faster” looks like it is going to be a great way to kick off the fall movie season. Now we just have to wait for the full trailer to come out to gain more insight into what’s really going to happen.

Ballet Sucks. Unless It’s Done With Tanks.

For a car guy, few things in life are as unpleasant as being forced to sit through a ballet. We don’t understand the language of dance, we’re not fond of dressing up and chances are good we won’t like the music. Even the occasional skimpy costume fails to keep our attention, since most ballerinas aren’t that good looking and make Kate Moss look like she needs the South Beach Diet. If my options are “go the the ballet” or “cut out my own appendix”, I’m going to grab the Betadine and a scalpel, thanks.

2010 Camaro SS: Fifth Gear Review

We all know how everyone touts about Top Gear as being the best automotive program on the planet and for good reason. It’s got the best balance of humor, action and entertainment and for a motor-head there is simply no better bang for the buck. However, there is also Fifth Gear, the “other” European automotive show that is generally just as informative and entertaining, but without the Top Gear budget. Their presenters, Tiff Needell, Jason Plato and Vicki Butler-Hederson offer up a different spin on the automobile while at the same time still keeping us glued to the tube. First off you guys need to immediately buzz through the video to the 11:16 point. Once that is accomplished then just sit back and watch Jason Plato flog the crap out of the new 2010 Camaro SS. This is good stuff filled with massive power slides and tire smoke. You’ll enjoy it, I promise.

Death Kart of DOOM!

It’s been proven over the years that man will invent new and more extravagant ways to try and kill himself. It’s genetic really and it’s what we do on a regular basis. Just think about it for a moment and look at some of our past inventions. Takes skies for example, two planks of wood that are strapped on to the bottom of our feet so as to let us go barreling down a mountain with no brakes… yep, really good idea. Then there’s bungee jumping, this is another great way to die. You jump off this nice platform and after you splatter your brains out on the ground below there is this neat elastic cord that brings you back skyward so the entire world can comment and make fun of your death. Now, if that weren’t enough, there is the new Death Kart of Doom.

It’s Friday. How About Some Roland Sands Bikes And Babes?

Back in April, Roland Sands Design began a 10 video project featuring some of the hottest women on the planet posing with some of RSD’s best work. The first video highlights their HD Nightster Cafe Racer, and the second highlights their CR500. Strangely enough, neither video listed information on the model in the vid. RSD fans were supposed to vote for their favorite model once the series was complete, and she’d become the poster girl for RSD in 2011.
