The temperature here in Northern, CA is supposed to hit an unseasonably hot 95 degrees this afternoon. That means old cars will over heat, people will go to the beach, and air conditioners throughout the region will be set on full blast. This is not a bad thing mind you, however it does make me think back to those snow filled days of winter when I lived in New York. Well, actually, the weather doesn’t make me think of that as much as the video you’re about to see does.

What you are about to witness is a first person view of a police pursuit as seen through the eyes of a motorcycle officer. The chase started when Police Motor Officer Troy Gurley spotted 24 year-old Justin O. Sanders speeding by him in a Mazda3. Officer Gurley proceeded to pursue Mr. Sanders on his bike and at times, the pursuit got downright scary. Remember, Officer Gurley is on a motorcycle which means no doors, airbags or external protection of any kind, something that made him very vulnerable to not only the speeding car, but other traffic as well. Generally when we see police chases they’re viewed from dash mounted cameras, however in this case, seeing it through a helmet cam gives this chase an entirely different look and feel.

As 16 and 17 year old kids the only thing we wanted to do with our cars was to go out and cause trouble. Burnouts, donuts, j-turns were our signature moves, but every now and then we’d be able to find some trails and do a little auto-crossing. We’d find a nice open field, wait until the sun went down, and then let the hoonage begin. Now granted, we were driving crappy cars from the late 1970′s and early 80′s, so we never achieved the visceral WOW factor of what you’re about to see. Regardless though, as long as there are teenagers with cars, you can bet your ass that disturbing the neighbors and causing trouble will never go away.

If someone told you to climb aboard a 30 year old motorcycle and go full-throttle up a plywood wall for the entertainment of someone else, the odds of you saying “NO” would be pretty strong. Now picture the wall is located in India, is in terrible shape, and is how you make your living. Such is the case for the men who ride and drive on the Indian Wall of Death, an amusement park attraction for locals. Believe it or not, but even at 4,000 lbs. and 18-feet long, the 1969 Dodge Charger is actually quite a good drift machine. They’re extremely tail-happy, have gobs of power and when driven correctly are an absolute riot. Therefore it’s no surprise to me that the owner of this General Lee replica is taken great pleasure in slinging this 44-year old sled around some barriers. I can pretty much guarantee that the engineers at Volkswagen never thought of putting a 736 hp engine under the bonnet of the original Golf MK1. In 1974 the little MK1 cranked out a mere 59 hp from its inline-4, however the one you’re about to see makes more than 12-times that. As you can see, the exterior sheet metal remains stock, however that’s where it ends. Power is put down through the front wheels by way of a six-speed manual transmission, while a massive Garrett turbo running 50 psi of boost helps the little 2-liter crank out big power. So here it is. Ford’s littlest big gun, the new 2014 Ford Fiesta ST. It’s powered by a 1.6-liter EcoBoost four cylinder that generates 197 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque. Not stump-pulling power mind you, but enough grunt to bring a smile to your face, especially if you’re rowing through the six-speed manual transmission. Ford of Europe recently released this video of the new Fiesta ST being flogged by David Put, a dynamics specialist for Ford at the legendary Lommel course in Belgium. Check it out after the jump.
