There are good ideas and then there are bad ideas. For example; eating your vegetables, going to the dentist and paying taxes are good ideas. Towing a trailer behind a diesel pickup truck at 140 mph, well, not so much. That however didn’t stop Diesel Power’s Associate Editor Jason Sands from heading out to the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed to try it though.

It confounds me why people still do stunts like this. Yes it’s somewhat fun to watch, but the outcome is always the same when you race something that drives against something that flies. Be it a helicopter, biplane, or F14 fighter, the one up in the air is the one that’s going to be the victor. So, with that being said, you’re about to watch a Dodge Challenger SRT8 and a 125cc shifter kart go head-to-head with a helicopter. Enjoy.

I can tell you from experience that one of the best parts about being a native New Yorker was ripping through the Holland, Mid-town and Lincoln tunnels at full-tilt with the exhaust of my 1968 Dodge Charger bellowing off the walls. That’s why it comes as no surprise that Red Bull decided to do the same thing with their Formula 1 Car. It must be nice to have the clout to shut down the entire tunnel and pull a stunt like this.

If you’ve ever viewed a drift competition either live or online then you know watching highly modified cars slide around is quite entertaining. In recent years though a debate has popped up as to which is faster, a modified race car or a modified drift car. Now keep in mind that drift cars are packing some serious punch under the bonnet in order to keep those back wheels spinning, yet race cars generally pack more aerodynamics and a bit of a lower gear for higher top end. Pro drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. and American Iron Champion Chris Cobetto recently wanted to see what was what, so they grabbed a few race and drift prepped Mustangs and headed to the track.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is one of the coolest and most dangerous motorsport events held here in the United States. It pits competitors in a no-holds-barred competition not against others mind you, but against the clock and the mountain itself. Most of the time things go off without a hitch, however there are those instances when mishaps occur and when they happen, they tend to happen big as Jeremy Foley and his co-driver found out while driving straight off a section of the course known as the Devils Playground.
The thing about racing is that regardless of how closely you watch or how hard you pay attention, the odds of you missing something spectacular are actually quite good. Racing of any kind moves at a level that the human eye simply can’t keep pace with. However changing technology has now enabled film makers to capture action at slow motion rates that are simply spectacular.
