If you’re a fan of all things Clarkson, then you’ll want to add the new TomTom Top Gear edition GO Live to your holiday wish list. In addition to voice guidance from none other than Jezza himself, the special edition GO Live includes Top Gear themed startup and shutdown screens, and unique icons (although we can’t confirm whether or not one is really a hamster). In case that’s not enough, there are also Top Gear-themed points of interest, which leaves us Americans scratching our heads wondering what they may be. Perhaps the Miami used car lot where the salesman showed Clarkson his Saturday Night Special? Read More…

Top Gear – Lamborghini Aventador

Lamborghini Aventador Road Test

If the new Lamborghini Aventador isn’t everything you thought it would be then there’s something seriously wrong with you. For starters it’s simply stunning to look at with its beautifully sculpted lines. Then there’s the fact that it’s properly suited to a race track, something that the big Lambo’s of the past were never really good at. And finally, this thing is seriously fast. 0-60 mph comes up in just 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph! Top Gears little Richard Hammond had a chance to have a go at Lamborghini’s newest toy and to say he came away impressed would be an understatement, however during his test he did note that some of the old Lamborghini drama was gone. Something that in our book is a little saddening.

Bus Racing: Top Gear Style

Top Gear Bus Race

The hosts of “Top Gear” no doubt have the greatest automotive jobs in the world. They’re privy to all sorts of insider information, get to drive just about everything and seemingly have the most fun in the auto industry. Their stunts are legendary, their road trips are awe inspiring and their race track antics… well, that’s another story all together. While Jeremy Clarkson gets to play ringleader, Richard Hammond and James May get to partake in some “lesser” events. Take for instance this little contest that was put on to see which of London’s passenger buses was the fastest around a road course. The drivers consisted of three pro’s, a professional hairdresser and Richard Hammond. Here in the U.S. we expect to see antics like this, but odds are they’d take place in Georgia with a bunch of toothless rednecks behind the wheel. By adding in a little highbrow flare however “Top Gear” has managed to make even redneck sports look good.

Forza 4 Preview: Jezza Reviews Halo’s M12 FAV Warthog

Posted in 4x4, Cool Stuff, Games, Top Gear, Video Games, Videos by Kurt Ernst | September 1st, 2011 | 1 Response |

If you’re eagerly anticipating the upcoming release of Forza Motorsport 4 for the Xbox 360, we’ll give you the bad news first: thanks to EA Sports’ lock on Porsche cars in video games, Forza 4 won’t have a single stock Porsche vehicle in its list of cars. Unlike previous versions of the game, where EA licensed Porsche vehicles to Turn 10 for use in Forza, this time EA decided to lock down Porsche vehicles for use in their “Need For Speed” franchise only. Sure, that sucks, but you’ll still have access to RUF-tuned Porsches, just in limited quantities. You’ll also have access to the M12 FAV Warthog, carried over from the massively successful Halo series of first-person-shooters. Read More…

Lamborghini Aventador: Lamborghini Aventador Style

The Lamborghini Aventador; it’s big, brash and comes at you with styling that’s like a right hook to the jaw. The interior is straight out of a stealth fighter and the noise it makes from its massive 6.5-liter V12 power plant is nothing short of sublime. 0-60 mph comes up in 2.9 seconds and, if you have enough road, it’ll top out at 217 mph. Not to shabby for a car made by a bunch of Italians who live on wine and cheese. Lamborghini’s, especially their V12 super cars have always been more of a street thug when it comes to driving. Their handling always came in second to top speed and styling, but thanks to some very stiff competition from the likes of Ferrari and Porsche, Lamborghini was forced to step up their game. There is however one inherent problem with this though. You see this is a Lamborghini, which means that regardless of its technology and power, there should always be that little bit of it that can turn into Dr. Jekyll at any moment. Sadly, it appears that the new Aventador has lost that personality trait.

Rowan Atkinson Top Gear

For those of you who are not familiar with the comedy of Rowan Atkinson, I’m here to tell you that you’re missing out. From Mr. Bean to Johnny English, Atkinson has a way of bringing bumbling fools to life in such a manner that you can’t help but fall in love with them. However when he’s not making us laugh Atkinson can be found playing in his garage with a few of his prized collector cars or on the track racing vintage automobiles. So when Top Gear UK asked him to be a star in their reasonably priced car, well, let’s just say he found it hard to refuse. Click through for the video and witness how one of the funniest men alive could possibly double as a race car driver if he so chose.. yeah, he’s that good.

Top Gear: The Marauder – This Ain’t No Mercury

Mercury Marauder

Back in 2003 the now defunct Mercury division of the Ford Motor Company released a car that is to this day, pretty bad ass in my opinion. It was called the Mercury Marauder and was basically a Ford Crown Victoria with an all black paint job and a hopped up Mustang engine. I have to say that back then I wanted one, but not as bad as the sucker that you’re about to see in this video. Meet the Marauder, an insane SUV/combat attack vehicle that is built by the Paramount Group of South Africa. The Marauder weighs in at 15 tons, can achieve speeds of 75 mph and is capable of taking a direct shot from an IAD. I’d be lying if I said that these babies aren’t super macho and that I want one immediately. However the fact that they cost a mere $514,000.00 unfortunately makes it fall just outside of my budget. Now go click play and check out how teeny-tiny little Richard Hammond looks next to this thing… priceless!

Sebastian Vettel Shatters Another Record

Sebastian Vettel greets his fans. Image: nick@

If you’re a fan of Top Gear and wait for BBC America to broadcast the episodes from two seasons back, stop reading now. If, like the rest of the planet, you watch Top Gear episodes on the internet, in real time (or close to it), then you already know what’s happened: Sebastian Vettel has set the lowest time for a star in a reasonably priced car. Vettel has beaten Rubens Barichello, the previous lap record holder, by 3/10 of a second. Barichello himself had already beaten lap times set by The Stig, Nigel Mansell, Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton. Read More…

Top Gear reviews BMW 1 Series M Coupe

Top Gear BMW 1M

Leave it to the crew at Top Gear UK to reaffirm what we already know… that the BMW 1 Series M Coupe is a brilliant car. With its twin-turbo inline-6 making 340 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque in overboost mode, it’s not only fun to drive but will make you smile from the time you get in it, till’ the time you get out. Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear UK generally hates everything he plants his ass in, so to watch him dote over the baby beemer is especially entertaining. Sure there are those that will complain that it’s $48,000, but the fact of the matter is, this little car is worth every penny of it. Click through for the video.
