Fiat 500L

For those of you out there who want to play grab-ass with your girlfriends Mom, well then, Fiat’s got the car for you! I mean hell, what middle-aged Cougar wouldn’t go crazy for a car with Italian styling, nicely appointed seats and an interior that’s so roomy that it literally lets her kiss you on the face without anyone knowing. Sadly though there’s no dirty talk, which I suppose is appropriate since Fiat’s are mostly visual little buggers anyway. Check it out after the jump.

F-150 SVT Raptor at the Nurburgring

Ford SVT Raptor

Driving and oddball car in an arena where it has no business being is one of the greatest feelings in the known universe. For instance, when I used to take my 1968 Dodge Charger to the race track and school C5 Corvettes, the owners would simply come away dumbfounded. I would imagine that’s just how pro-racer, Top Gear host and all around hoon Tanner Foust felt when he decided to sling a Ford SVT Raptor around Germany’s famed Nurburgring. Is it totally absurd? Yep… it sure is, but honestly who cares, as this must have been one epic experience.

Nissan GT-R

As some of you may remember Tiff Needle of the UK speed program “Fifth Gear” used to be apart of that other UK show, “Top Gear”. This of course was back in the ’90′s when cars were slow, exhibited mass body role and the world thought the American’s still made crap cars. This episode originally aired back in 1998 and features a Porsche 911 Carrera, a Nissan Skyline GT-R, a Honda NSX and a Chevrolet C5 Corvette, and even though it’s a bit dated, it’s still great fun to watch.

Richard Hammond’s “Crash Course” on BBC America

Richard Hammond Crash Course

Joanie Loves Chachi, After Mash and of course, Joey. All spin-off’s of über successful TV shows that unfortunately flopped harder then a pair of 80-year old breasts. Richard Hammond of Top Gear UK may just be headed down this road as he’s about to launch his own show on BBC America entitled, “Crash Course”.

“Top Gear’s Richard Hammond is coming to America, and he’s strapping into some serious machinery. But three days to master the world’s toughest vehicles… might not be enough!”

Listen, I’m all for the further development of automotive television, my only hope is that he pulls it off with the same style and panache that we’ve become accustom to with Top Gear.

He’s one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, he’s already married and divorced Scarlett Johansson and at days end he’s actually quite a big motor-head. Ryan Reynolds is one of those rare stars who not only seems like a very down-to-earth type of guy, but also has no problem making fun of himself. Recently he ventured over to the Top Gear UK studio to have a shot as their Big Star in a Reasonably Priced Car, with the goal of beating one man – Mr. Tom Cruise. BMW’s 1-Series M Takes On Brutus

Posted in BMW, Top Gear, Videos by Kurt Ernst | November 20th, 2011 | 2 Responses |

BMW’s 1 Series M is a modern sport coupe, designed for optimum handling and powered by a twin-turbo inline-six good for 340 horsepower. Brutus is a 1908 American LaFrance truck chassis, stuffed full of a 46-liter (and no, I didn’t miss a decimal point) V-12 BMW aircraft engine, making 500 horsepower at 1,500 rpm. The 1-Series M barks a satisfying exhaust note; Brutus, on the other hand, spits fire and belches enough unspent hydrocarbon to erode a hole in the ozone layer the size of Montana with each quarter mile pass. As Jeremy Clarkson puts it, “This car is the stuff of nightmares… the very embodiment of evil.” We’re not sure about that, but it appears to be a very good way to have fingers amputated, thanks to its exposed mechanicals.

Fifth Gear: Jaguar XJ220 vs Jaguar XKR-S

Posted in European Rides, General, Jaguar, Rides, Top Gear, Videos by MrAngry | October 24th, 2011 | 2 Responses |

When released in 1992 the Jaguar XJ220 was one of the fastest road cars on the planet. It’s twin-turbo charged 3.5-liter V6 produced 542 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque which meant 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 220 mph. Back then it was one of the greatest super cars ever created, but how does it compare to Jaguar’s newest toy? Recently Fifth Gear, the UK’s other car show, took Jaguar’s newest bad boy, the XKR-S and pitted it against its much older brother. Horsepower wise the cars are pretty comparable, but the XJ220 has a pretty good weight advantage. So, will the new XKR-S and its 20 years of suspension technology beat the big old cat of yesteryear? I can tell you one thing… it’ll be close. Click play to find out which is the new King.

Tanner Foust & Ford Focus RS 500 at the Nürburgring

Ford Focus RS 500

It goes without saying that Tanner Foust is now one of the most recognized and talented drivers on the planet. He’s a multiple X-games gold medal winner, a Race of Champions (ROC) competitor, the host of Top Gear America and a Hollywood stunt driver. In short, the guys got one helluva’ life. He also gets invited to drive some of the coolest limited production vehicles on the planet. This is a Ford Focus RS 500, a pocket sized hot hatch for which only 500 were built for the European market. The one Foust is driving has a tick over 300 bhp, which means 0-60 times in the 5 second range and a top speed of just over 150 mph. What’s even cooler than that though is listening to his comments as he pilots the RS 500 around Germany’s famed Nürburgring.
