Subaru BRZ

Anyone whose ever driven the new Subaru BRZ will tell you two things. First, it’s an amazing car with great road feel, handling and a fun factor that’s off the charts. Two, it’s underpowered and slow. Crawford Performance seeks to cure this by offering a package that not only doubles the BRZ’s horsepower, but TRIPLES it’s torque! Matt Farah of TUNED recently got his hands on Crawford’s new BRZ to see just how good it really is.

Subaru Hoon

As 16 and 17 year old kids the only thing we wanted to do with our cars was to go out and cause trouble. Burnouts, donuts, j-turns were our signature moves, but every now and then we’d be able to find some trails and do a little auto-crossing. We’d find a nice open field, wait until the sun went down, and then let the hoonage begin. Now granted, we were driving crappy cars from the late 1970′s and early 80′s, so we never achieved the visceral WOW factor of what you’re about to see. Regardless though, as long as there are teenagers with cars, you can bet your ass that disturbing the neighbors and causing trouble will never go away.

Subaru STI Barrel Jump

It should come as no surprise that the only real way to experience a true performance car is to take it to the track. Here in the United States organizations like NASA (National Auto Sport Association) and Hooked on Driving will not only provide you with a safe environment, but they’ll offer you instruction and guidance as well. There are those however who feel that they know best, don’t require instruction and prefer to simply go it alone when it comes to wheeling their vehicle at speed. Obviously when this happens mayhem ensues and you wind up with instances like the one you’re about to see.

Subaru Impreza

When someone tells you, “You Get What You Pay For” they’re saying that for a reason. You see people don’t part with things that are worth money, they simply don’t. That’s why it shouldn’t have come as a surprise to this new Subaru owner that the car she purchased from Craigslist.com for $600 has a blown rear suspension. The suspension is so torn up in fact that this thing literally does bunny-hops when forced into a panic stop situation and that my friends is not OK.

2013 Subaru Outback Limited

Thumbs Up: Capable of light off-roading, yet still comfortable on-road.

Thumbs Down: Improved CVT is still a CVT, no automatic transmission options.

Buy This Car If: You live where winter and dirt roads are a fact of life, but don’t need an SUV.

It’s hard to believe, but the Subaru Outback has been with us now for nearly 20 years. Launched in 1994 as an all-wheel-drive wagon with SUV looks, the Outback has evolved over the past two decades to become a mainstay family vehicle in parts of the country saddled with winter weather, dirt roads or both.
