2004 STi

When the Subaru WRX STI was released in 2004, the world stood up and took notice. Here was a car with a flat-4 turbocharged engine, AWD and a reputation in WRC that few others could match. The best part though was that this was a car that anyone with around $30k could purchase. This is the Subaru Vintage Garage and this week, they’re showcasing the 2004 Impreza WRX STI. Check it out after the jump.

Subaru 22B STI

As one of the most memorable and recognizable Subaru’s of all time, the 1998 Impreza 22B STI is also one of the most sought after. You see the 22B was designed to commemorate Subaru’s 40th Anniversary and with only 424 ever produced, well, you can see why you’ve probably never seen one in person. This is the Subaru that put STI on the map and the one that was driven to victory in WRC. It’s an amazing car on all fronts, so make sure to check it out after the jump.

Subaru Detroit

Let’s face it, drifting through parking lots and around concrete barriers is nothing new. In fact for the majority of us gear-heads, it’s literally been something that we’ve been doing all of our lives. Then Ken Block showed up, figured out how to monetize it via video and presto – a new sport was born. What you are about to see isn’t exactly Block quality, yet, it doesn’t suck either, so make sure to click through and check it out after the jump.

Twin-Turbo Subaru Legacy: How JDM Can You Go?

TUNED

In stock form the 1998 Subaru Legacy GT was nothing to write home about. Sure it came standard with all-wheel drive and a nice 165 hp boxer 4-cylinder engine, but all that did was get it rolling. Owner Dave Brown however likes to do things differently. So, rather than build an R-STi like everyone else, he spent over two years at his shop Fast of Westchester turning his 1998 Subaru Legacy into a perfect JDM Tuner Car, right down to the rare Twin-Turbo engine. This is how subtlety should be done.

No sooner did I post my review, but then I see that Motor Trend has also conducted a wonderful track test of some great brands with race driver Randy Pobst behind the wheel. Check it out after the jump and prepare to be educated!

Subaru BRZ

Anyone whose ever driven the new Subaru BRZ will tell you two things. First, it’s an amazing car with great road feel, handling and a fun factor that’s off the charts. Two, it’s underpowered and slow. Crawford Performance seeks to cure this by offering a package that not only doubles the BRZ’s horsepower, but TRIPLES it’s torque! Matt Farah of TUNED recently got his hands on Crawford’s new BRZ to see just how good it really is.

Subaru Hoon

As 16 and 17 year old kids the only thing we wanted to do with our cars was to go out and cause trouble. Burnouts, donuts, j-turns were our signature moves, but every now and then we’d be able to find some trails and do a little auto-crossing. We’d find a nice open field, wait until the sun went down, and then let the hoonage begin. Now granted, we were driving crappy cars from the late 1970′s and early 80′s, so we never achieved the visceral WOW factor of what you’re about to see. Regardless though, as long as there are teenagers with cars, you can bet your ass that disturbing the neighbors and causing trouble will never go away.

Over the last 13 years the Subaru Impreza WRX has amassed a dedicated and loyal following. It’s been featured in endless magazine comparisons and for a long time was the benchmark in the category of cheap performance.
