All are stock except for the GT-R which has been tuned to the likes of 750 hp. However, does all that extra power necessarily make it better than its German rivals? Harris recently put this trio through a gaggle of tests to find out exactly that!

When you think of a mid-sized performance sedan, the odds of a BMW 5-series popping into your head would probably be pretty good. However there is another vehicle out there that’s trying to encroach on the 5-series dominance. It’s imported from Japan and comes in the form of this – the 2013 Infiniti M56. On paper you’ll notice that all the correct bells and whistles are in place. It’s got a big V8, rear-wheel drive performance and thanks to the optional technology package, has just about every option you’d ever want. Pro-touring is the art of taking and old car and fitting it with modern components so as to give it the performance to be able to run head-to-head with today’s modern sports cars. Now when most people think of this, they immediately think of modernized muscle cars. But what about taking vintage imports and doing the same thing. MotorTrend recently got two amazing Nissan Z cars together for an all-out track comparison. Car 1 was a modern day 370z fitted with just about every bolt-on you could possibly purchase over the parts counter. Car 2 was a vintage 1970 Datsun 240z with an RB26 engine transplant that was built by Gordon MacSwain of Ohio. If you’re an automotive enthusiast here in the United States then you probably know there were earlier versions of the Nissan GT-R before the current model. In fact the Nissan GT-R has been around in one form or another since 1969. The R32, or third Gen GT-R, was produced from 1989-1994 and never sold here in the States. It’s also regarded by some to be one of the most collectible GT-R’s out there. Endless, a tuner shop in Japan, has managed to get a whopping 1,200 hp out of the R32 and done so in a manner that not only keeps the car streetable, but reliable as well.

As some of you may remember Tiff Needle of the UK speed program “Fifth Gear” used to be apart of that other UK show, “Top Gear”. This of course was back in the ’90′s when cars were slow, exhibited mass body role and the world thought the American’s still made crap cars. This episode originally aired back in 1998 and features a Porsche 911 Carrera, a Nissan Skyline GT-R, a Honda NSX and a Chevrolet C5 Corvette, and even though it’s a bit dated, it’s still great fun to watch.
