2013 Infiniti FX37

YEAR / MAKE / MODEL: 2013 Infiniti FX37

POWERTRAIN: 3.2L V6 with 325hp / 267 lb-ft of torque : 7-speed Automatic Transmission w/ Rev Matching

FUEL ECONOMY: 17 city / 24 hwy / 19 combined

There’s a pretty good argument out there that a well-designed crossover could in fact be the perfect vehicle. Gone are the rough and tumble truck characteristics from the SUVs of old, and in their place are wonderful cross-stitched interiors, supple rides and engines so smooth you hardly even know they’re running. The new 2013 Infiniti FX37 is one such vehicle, and while it’s good in most respects there are some areas in which it could use some improvement.

Ridelust Review: 2013 Infiniti M56 Sport

2013 Infiniti M56 S

PRO’s: Beautifully styled, comfortable and sporty interior that’s loaded with tech. Strong V8 offers great performance.

CON’s: Vague steering, high price tag.

FINAL THOUGHT: A nicely appointed sports-sedan that offers plenty of performance and luxury with a image that’s a big departure from its German rivals.

When you think of a mid-sized performance sedan, the odds of a BMW 5-series popping into your head would probably be pretty good. However there is another vehicle out there that’s trying to encroach on the 5-series dominance. It’s imported from Japan and comes in the form of this – the 2013 Infiniti M56. On paper you’ll notice that all the correct bells and whistles are in place. It’s got a big V8, rear-wheel drive performance and thanks to the optional technology package, has just about every option you’d ever want. However, does all of this power and tech make for a good and sporty automobile? Click through to find out.

2013 Infiniti M37

Thumbs Up: Nimble, still relatively quick with the V-6

Thumbs Down: Optioned-out, price grows quickly

Buy This Car If: You’re looking for a sportier take on a Japanese luxury sedan

Japanese premium brand Infiniti built its business in the United States market by delivering luxury cars that still had a performance edge. If you wanted the best ride comfort, Lexus was more up your alley; if you wanted reasonable comfort with a generous side order of handling, Infiniti was where you shopped. Read More…

2013 Infiniti G37s Sedan: Ridelust Review

2013 Infiniti G37 Journey Sedan

PRO’s: Great power, not regulated by electronic nannies, a lot of fun in a very nice wrapper.

CON’s: Dated styling, narrow interior, needs more rubber.

FINAL THOUGHT: A competent sports sedan, that albiet looking a bit dated, provides its owner with decent luxury, performance and a driving experience that’s still lets the owner behave like a child when the mood strikes.

The Infiniti G-Series has been around in the United States for over 20 years. Beginning with the G20 back in 1990, the goal was to introduce Nissan’s then new luxury brand into the U.S. market. Their strategy worked because now 22 years after the sedans initial launch the G-Series is still going strong and is currently rolling through its six-generation. The sports sedan in the United States is not a vehicle to be taken lightly as competition comes from all sides. Manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac, Audi and Lexus are all fighting for the crown, which means each company does their damnedest to outdo the other guy. So, how does the 2013 Infiniti G37s Sedan stack up against the other guys? Click through to find out.

2013 Infiniti JX35

Thumbs Up: Hauls seven passengers in comfort

Thumbs Down: Handling not up to Infiniti’s usual standards, CVT is the only gearbox option

Buy This Car If: Comfort and capacity outweigh your need for speed.

The Infiniti brand earned its stripes by building cars that blended performance and luxury, usually for thousands of dollars less than its German rivals. The Infiniti G37 sedan remains one of our favorite sport sedans, especially when price factors into the equation, and the same thing can be said for Infiniti’s FX crossover. While the styling may not appeal to everyone, the FX delivers a surprisingly entertaining ride, and we’d easily take it over the rival Lexus RX. Read More…

2012 Infiniti FX35 AWD: Ridelust Review

2012 Infiniti FX35 Limited

Pro’s: Beautiful styling, wonderful engine and transmission, handling worthy of a sports sedan

Con’s: Limited interior room, brakes

Final Thought: A beautifully styled crossover with AWD capabilities that’s a big step up from the average SUV.

When I hear the term “crossover” I immediately think of the word “compromise”. I mean let’s face it, that’s what most crossover vehicles are right? They’re a compromise between a sedan and an SUV which means that they generally don’t do anything all that well. I was recently handed the keys to the 2012 Infiniti FX35 AWD Limited Edition that you see here and strangely enough, Limited Edition in this case actually means it, as there are only 550 units being produced. All this exclusivity gets you some nicely done trim bits, special iridium blue paint, 21-inch turbine style wheels with V-rated tires, full-view cameras that surround the vehicle and a hard drive navigation system that’s pretty damn good. But what about the rest of the FX35 though, how does it stack up as an all around everyday vehicle? Click through to find out.

Infiniti FX Custom Exhaust

If you work construction and happen to own a nice car, truck or SUV then may I suggest never, ever taking it to work. You see construction sites are filled with things like aluminum tubing, copper wire and of course clamps, lots and lots of clamps. What this means is that when you come back from your lunch break to find your ride “modified” like the one you’re about see, just don’t act too surprised.

2012 Infiniti G Convertible 6MT: RideLust Review

2012 Infiniti G Convertible 6MT

Thumbs Up: Convertible fun with coupe sensibility.

Thumbs Down: Not as agile as the G Coupe, no top-down luggage space.

Buy This Car If: You want a convertible you can use year-round.

Convertibles, conventional wisdom tells us, are filled with compromise. For the pleasure of the occasional top-down drive, buyers need to contend with chassis flex, leaking seals, increased road noise and an appalling lack of security, since anyone with a sharp knife can easily access the contents of your car. Owning one is only a reasonable consideration for those living in California or Florida, and even then it’s best to never park your ragtop out of sight. Read More…

2012 Infiniti M56 Sport: RideLust Review

2012 Infiniti M56S

Thumbs Up: A true sport sedan with plenty of room for four adults.

Thumbs Down: Creaky plastic console is out of place at this price point.

Buy This Car If: You’re in the market for a sport sedan that doubles as a grand tourer.

Like Rodney Dangerfield, the Infiniti M56 can’t get any respect. When some one throws down the term “sport sedan,” Infiniti’s flagship sedan gets picked only after the BMW 5-Series, the Audi A6 and the Cadillac CTS-V are all gone. Worse, many buyers never even think about cross-shopping the Infiniti product, because you don’t see many M56 sedans on the road. Read More…

2012 Infiniti QX56: Ridelust Review

2012 Infiniti QX56 Exterior

PRO’s: Great interior, wonderful road manners, decent mileage for such a large SUV.

CON’s: Questionable styling, small side view mirrors, big price.

FINAL THOUGHT: Even though the QX56 may look like Susan Boyle that doesn’t change the fact that this 2-ton rock star sings like Lady GaGa.

There is nothing subtle about the 2012 Infiniti QX56. I mean truth be told this sucker is huge. At over 17-feet long and 6-feet wide this thing takes me back to the days of Ford’s now defunct two door Bronco. I wasn’t really sure what to make of the QX56 which meant my expectations were set quite low.
