2 Guys, 1 Bike – RideApart

RideApart

If you’re a watcher of Youtube’s DRIVE Network then you know that TUNED host Matt Farah is a big man, and RideApart host Jamie Robinson is not. This is why seeing them roll two-up on a Honda CBR1000 is just plain hilarious. They spent the day hitting the California canyons, scraping fairings and having a grand old time. Personally, I’d never jump on the back of a bike, even if Jamie Robinson was the pilot. Matt however, he’s a different story all together. Check out the comedy after the jump.

2013 Hyundai Elantra GT: RideLust Review

2013 Hyundai Elantra GT

Thumbs Up: Great content, great value, surprisingly entertaining.

Thumbs Down: Automatic transmission won’t hold gear selected to redline.

Buy This Car If: You’re looking for a hatchback with impressive content at a great price.

It’s easy to love what Hyundai is doing these days, since the Korean automaker seems to be turning out hit after hit after hit. First it was the new midsize Sonata sedan, followed by the compact Elantra sedan. Next came the new Accent and the new Veloster, which seemed to fill the brand’s need for a compact hatchback. 2012 Hyundai Azera: RideLust Review

2012 Hyundai Azera

Thumbs Up: A lot of car for the money.

Thumbs Down: Luxury yes, but not much sport.

Buy This Car If: You’re shopping for the best bargain in a front-drive luxury sedan.

The old Hyundai Azera was the Rodney Dangerfield of front-wheel-drive luxury sedans: try though it might, it simply couldn’t get any respect. In all of 2011, Hyundai managed to sell just 1,524 Azera sedans, never selling more than 222 copies in a single month. Even the flagship Hyundai Equus outsold the Azera by more than two-to-one, making the old Hyundai Azera the slowest-selling car in Hyundai’s lineup last year. Read More…

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo: RideLust Review

2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo

Thumbs Up: A Veloster that lives up to the potential of the chassis.

Thumbs Down: A sporty car, but not a sports car.

Buy This Car If: You want an economical daily driver with entertainment value and lots of content.

To be perfectly honest, we have a love / hate thing going on with Hyundai’s Gen-Y targeted Veloster hatchback. We love its unique styling and funky three-door-plus-hatch sensibility. We love the fact that the chassis is far stiffer than it needs to be, and we love how much content that Hyundai crams in for the price. On the other hand, we’re not thrilled with a back seat that gives up room compared to others in the class, and we never thought that the base 1.6-liter four cylinder engine, rated at 138 horsepower (or 132 hp if you opt for the six-speed automatic transmission) provided enough grunt to deliver any kind of entertainment value. Rhys Millen Record Run: Pikes Peak at 9:46

Rhys Millen Pikes Peak 2012

About a week ago Rhys Millen did something that few people thought possible. He beat Monster Tajima’s record at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb by a whopping 5-seconds for a time of 9:46. The hill climb is an event that’s steeped with both tradition and tragedy, yet year after year people still flock to participate. As you’re watching the following video make sure to take notice of Millen’s footwork. He left foot brakes and does some beautiful heal-toe driving to post a record that decimates every other competitor in the field. That’s pretty amazing stuff if you ask me.

2012 Hyundai Veloster Ecoshift DCT: RideLust Review

2012 Hyundai Veloster

Thumbs Up: Looks great, delivers a lot of content for the price.

Thumbs Down: Rear seat head room, needs more power.

Buy This Car If: You want a solid alternative to the Civic, MINI and Golf

While the old Pontiac Aztek is an example of what happens when you design a car by committee, the Hyundai Veloster is the outcome of designing a car based on focus groups. Instead on relying on its executives and accountants to design a ride aimed straight at Millennial buyers, Hyundai opted to go directly to the source when it began designing the Veloster. Read More…

Hyundai Genesis Coupe Drift Car Heist

Rhys Millen

I hate to say it, but even a fully murdered out Hyundai Genesis sedan is not cool. HOWEVER, this video of Rhys Millen stealing his own Genesis Coupe drift car from Hyundai’s now defunct headquarters in Orange County, CA is. Actually what happened was that one of Hyundai’s service technicians, one Dustin Loranger, thought it would be a cool idea to have a little fun with the old HQ before they leveled the building. His thought was to have factory driver Rhys Millen ripping it up both inside and outside of the building while being chased by security. He didn’t think his idea had a shot, but in an unexpected twist of fate, the Hyundai brass and their attorneys bought it. So without further adieu, click through and prepare to enjoy 4-minutes and 51-seconds of tire smoking action.

Hyundai Can’t Wait For Detroit, Releases Genesis Coupe Images

Posted in auto industry, Design, Hyundai, News by Kurt Ernst | November 13th, 2011 | 1 Response |

The 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is the worst kept secret in years. First there were spy shots, followed by teaser images showing a headlight here and a wheel there, but Hyundai has finally grown tired of releasing the new Genesis Coupe one bit at a time. Today, the Korean automaker posted these images to its worldwide Facebook page ahead of the car’s intended launch at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. Read More…
