Porsche Music

They’re wonderful, glorious and the envy of just about every motoring enthusiast who doesn’t own one. By now we all know that the Porsche 911 is an icon. It’s the car that manufacturers benchmark when building their own super cars and it’s the one that always finishes at the top of the pack. However sometimes performance isn’t the only thing about the 911 that people love. Sometimes it’s that wonderful noise that bellows from the exhaust tips of those flat-6 engines that gives the 911 life.

Larry Lime Rock

Recently Larry Kosilla of AMMONYC.com and /DRIVE CLEAN took a little road trip with some buddies up to Lime Rock Park in Connecticut for the Continental Tire Challenge. In tow (behind his Porsche 964) was a ungodly powerful Shelby GT500, a Boss 302 and an itsy-bitsy (but very fast) Lotus Elise. The goal of the day was simple – watch the races, hang out with friends and then of course, go home and clean your car. Not only was there some good driving footage, but Larry was able to get up close an personal with some of the drivers, so make sure to click through and check it out.

Ferrari Porsche Chevy

You’ve gotta hand it to the guys over at Motor Trend as they’ve got access to the coolest cars on the planet. Who else can get together a 2014 Ferrari F12, 2014 Corvette C7 and a 2014 Porsche 911 C4S and wring them out at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with Randy Pobst behind the wheel. There is a V12, a V8 and a flat-6 and yet the lap times are so close it’s ridiculous. This is a good one, so make sure to check it out after the jump.

Porsche 911

Sometimes all it takes is the sound of an engine to get your juices flowing. For this to happen to Jeff Zwart though, that engine must be found in a Porsche 911. The 911’s flat-6 is undeniably distinctive and has the ability to make all Porsch-O-file stop and take notice. These are cars with a rich racing heritage that cater to die-hard enthusiasts, not the “look at me” crowd. They’re beautiful, functional and something that one day, will be in my garage.

Porsche RSR Crash

Dealing with an accident face-to-face is not something that most of us ever want to do. For one, what we see may stay with us forever, and two, the majority of people simply freeze up not knowing how to react. This is exactly what happened when rally driver Harry Kleinjan crashed during the Hellendoorn Rally 2013. His Porsche 964 RSR went careening out of control hitting a barrier, which in turn flipped it upside down into a small canal. As you can see there are loads of people standing around, yet no one is rushing to help. That begs the question – faced with an accident where you may be able to help someone, would you?

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S

When the original Porsche 911 debuted in 1975, it was considered to be somewhat of a handful. It had gobs of turbo-lag and handling characteristics that were considered to be sketchy at best – but that was almost 40 years ago. Today’s 911 Turbo S is now one of the most technologically advanced cars in the world. It boasts 560 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque (553 lb-ft with overboost) from its twin-turbo flat-six, and is one of the fastest production cars on the planet. Motor Trend’s Carlos Lago recently took a short stint in the Porsche’s new Turbo and came away impressed by what he experienced.

Posted in Best of, eBay Motors, General, Porsche, Promoted by MrAngry | September 9th, 2013 | 1 Response |

The Porsche 917 is widely regarded as one of the most desirable and vicious automobiles to drive at speed. In race form it was powered by a flat-12 engine said to produce around 600 hp. That meant 0-60 mph in under 2.5 seconds and a top speed of over 240 mph. The car you are viewing here is a replica made by RCR and uses a chassis that is a combination of an aluminum monocoque front section, with a tube for tube back-half in the rear. The chassis is designed to have a Porsche flat-six engine coupled to a 930 gearbox. This is a stunning re-creation of one of the most iconic race cars in history, especially when clad in that famous Gulf livery. You can get more information on the car by clicking on the eBay link below, or check out some more pics after the jump.

Porsche 356

To some people, driving the same car for 45 years may seem somewhat crazy. However if your name is Guy Newmark, well then, it all makes perfect sense. Guy’s Father, a then Austin Healey and Mercedes owner, purchased this Porsche 356 and proceeded to put around 80,000 miles on it. At that point, it was given to Guy and the rest is history. Putting over 900,000 miles on the old Porsche however was never a chore. In fact he still relishes the drive every time he pulls it out of the garage. Now wouldn’t it be great if all cars made us feel this way?

Jerry Seinfeld

If you’re a fan of Jerry Seinfeld then you know that he’s one of the biggest Porsche fanatics on the planet. He owns a 917, a Carrera GT and of course, the first 911 ever built. His passion with Porsche borderlines on crazy, but hell, if we had his money we’d probably be the same way. What you are about to see is a piece that Porsche produced back in 2009 that illustrates just how strongly their owners feel about their cars – Seinfeld more than any other.
