EVO Car of the Year 2012: Track Battles

EVO Car of the Year 2012

Porsche vs Lotus, Toyota vs Morgan, BMW vs Porsche as well as a host of other great automobiles battle it out for the EVO Car of the Year 2012. Now while all of these battles are excellent the ones you really want to focus on are the Toyota GT86 vs the Morgan 3-Wheeler, and the McLaren 12c vs the Pagani Huayra. Sure the others are fun, but bang for the buck, these four automobiles should leave you coming away speechless.

Lego Technic Motorized Pagani Zonda

Lego Pagani Zonda

Can you imagine what Leonardo Da Vinci would have crafted if he’d had a set of Lego’s as a kid? The possibilities would’ve been endless! As a child Lego’s were simple. We had maybe 10 to 15 different styles of blocks, no electric motors and absolutely nothing with remote control capabilities. In short, these little building blocks spiked the imaginations of children the world over and kept most of them out of trouble. In this day and age Lego’s are no longer just for children and in fact have been embraced by adults. Take for instance this amazing replica of a Pagani Zonda that comes complete with full power and remote control capabilities. It was built using existing blocks from existing kits with no instructions. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me.

Pagani Huayra Chris Harris Review

The Pagani Huayra is powered by a 730 hp twin-turbo V12 that’s built by AMG. It’s got the same suspension system as the Pagani Zonda R; the same car that lapped the Nurburgring in an astonishing 6-minutes and 47-seconds. Chris Harris of the DRIVE Network got the invite to be one of the first journalists to test it out in Modena, Italy and God bless the man if he didn’t do just that! Click through for the video.

Who Knew The Chinese Had A Super Car Club?

Chinese Super Car Club

“Made in China”. That’s a sentence that is unfortunately seen on most of the goods we have over here in the United States. As Americans, we see that, sigh, and then drop our heads wishing that we produced all of our own goods and services. Apparently though that phrase is paying off big time for the Chinese as they’ve got a car club over there that rivals just about anything I’ve ever seen stateside. Pagani, Ferrari, Bugatti, Koenissegg, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz are all present and accounted for and hot damn if these guys don’t drive the piss out of them as well. Stored in a warehouse somewhere in China, the value of these automobiles together rivals the yearly economy of some small countries. So, next time you see a label that reads “Made in China”, don’t worry because it’s helping keep our favorite super car companies in business.

Horatio Pagani Visits Jay Leno’s Garage, Brings A Huayra

The Pagani Huayra. Image: Pagani Automobiles

Just in case you’re not up to speed on Italian supercars, let me sum it up like this: there’s Pagani, and then there’s everything else. Their Zonda R (which isn’t road legal) set a Nürburgring lap time of 6:47.50, besting the Ferrari 599XX in the process. Even their Zonda F Clubsport street car can lap the ‘Ring in 7:24.44, making it faster than a Ferrari Enzo. Unlike other supercars, which are mostly built by large companies owned by larger corporations, Paganis are built by hand, with a disturbing amount of time spent sweating the details. Read More…

Pagani Huayra

Not long ago Kurt brought you guys a post on Pagani’s new unpronounceable hypercar, the Huayra, along with a nice little photo shoot video. But now, thanks to EA Sports and SHIFT 2 Unleashed, we can bring you an even better of video of this new uber car complete with sound, fire spitting action and loads of tire smoke. Granted it’s digital footage of some game play, but quite frankly who cares? For the record, the new 2011 Pagani Huayra pumps out 700 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque thanks to its 6.0-liter Mercedes built V12 with twin turbochargers. It’ll also do 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds and is said to top out at over 230 mph. Those are some crazy numbers right there folks. Like I said, who really cares if this is video game footage because in the end it’s probably the closest any one of us will ever get to seeing one in person. Click through for the video.

Pagani Huayra: Unpronounceable Goodness

Posted in Geneva Motor Show, Pagani, Supercars by Kurt Ernst | March 4th, 2011 | 1 Response |

Stunning car, unpronounceable name. No matter how hard I try, I can’t get the name of Pagani’s latest supercar out of my mouth. Is it pronounced “Hoo-A-rah”, or is it more along the lines of “Hoy-ra”? I’m not even going to venture a guess, but I’ll say this: toss me the key and let me spend a day driving it, and I don’t care what you want me to call it. Pagani seems to understand that supercars should be designed and built with passion, and that sometimes subtle technology is better than in-your-face technology. From what I’ve seen, the Huayra’s interior is a work of art, befitting a car that costs as much as six McLaren MP4-12Cs. Enjoy videos of the car in action, and in the studio, below. Read More…

It’s Official: We’re Getting The Pagani Huayra

2012 Pagani Huayra

The Pagani Huayra: funny name, fast car. Image: Pagani Automobili

Pagani’s follow up to the Zonda supercar is named for Huayra Tata, the “Father of Wind”, as worshipped by peoples in Bolivia and Peru prior to European settlement. The fact that the name is utterly unpronounceable in English won’t stop Pagani from brining it to the United States, and that’s a very good thing. A few Zondas made it to this side of the pond, but none were “officially” imported by Pagani. The Huarya represents Pagani’s first attempt at branding, marketing and selling cars on this side of the pond. Read More…

The 10 Most Expensive Cars, According To Forbes

2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

The Bugatti Super Sport tops the list.

If you ever see me giving stock tips on RideLust, be afraid. I’m not a “play the stock market” kind of guy, and every spare dollar I’ve ever made has gone into cars, bikes, racing or travel (usually centered around cars, bikes or racing). With that in mind, you have a certain right to be skeptical when Forbes publishes a list of the most expensive cars. First, it’s only a snapshot in time, as new supercars are introduced every year. Next, there’s no clarification on where the prices are from, so I assume they’re a manufacturer’s list price, translated in to U.S. dollars. That’s hardly an accurate representation, as cars typically sell for higher prices in the EU than they do in the United States. Finally, any car’s price is based on supply and demand: since the entire run of Bugatti Veyron Super Sports has been spoken for, good luck finding one at the list price of $2.6 million.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Live Action Trailer

After watching this live action trailer for Electronic Arts new video game, “Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit” it’s apparent to me that every police precinct on the planet should be equipped with a Lamborghini Murcielago. For a car guy seeing a police chase like this is pretty much on par with your favorite wet dream, which is exactly what the guys at Electronic Arts were hoping for. I downloaded the demo for XBOX 360 and have to say that it really is quite entertaining. You can play as either law enforcement or the bad guys and as time progresses you gain access to new faster cars, different tracks and special automotive modifications. Shooting a quick live action version though is really going to help seal the deal for fans of the series. I mean really, is there anything better than seeing a hopped up Pagani Zonda running from a Lamborghini Murcielago with a light bar on top? I don’t think so…
