Paul Smith Mini

Sometimes we don’t know what kinds of cars will make our naughty bits tingle. For some, it’s high-horsepower muscle, while others prefer exotics, imports or vintage European. Whatever the case though, as gear-heads we all know, that when a car is calling your name, there is little you can do but reach into your wallet and pull out the required amount of cash that it takes to purchase it. This is Jon Quirk, he’s the Editor of Auto Trader UK, and this is the story of how he obtained his Rover Mini Paul Smith. Check it out after the jump.

DRIVEN

If you were to ask any rally driver what the most the important piece of equipment was aside from their car, their co-driver would be the answer. From monitoring the race route and car diagnostics, to keeping the driver in check, the co-driver is an invaluable asset to any team. This week on /DRIVEN, Executive Producer J.F. Musial goes inside with the MINI X-Raid team for a never before scene tour of what goes into cross-country rallies. Check it out after the jump.

Original Cooper S

Small, light and fast – put these components together and you’ve got the makings of a great little performance machine. Add in some grip and ample power and well, you’ve got a giant killer. The Mini is one of those machines that real automotive enthusiasts not only appreciate, but strive to own. They’re a hoot when driven correctly and with a little work, can even be made to be reliable. The Mini’s of today, under BMW, are even more fun. And, with every creature comfort and modern automotive convenience, they truly are a jack-of-all-trades machine.

DRIVEN

The Dakar Rally is one of, if not the most hardcore off-road event in the entire world. This two week event showcases some of the baddest machines and competitors against some of the toughest terrain imaginable. If you’re familiar with Dakar then you no doubt know that the service trucks that run the event are the coolest entrants out there. Sure the buggies, bikes and cars are neat, but a 3-ton truck jumping over sand dunes simply takes the cake for me. J.F. Musial, Executive Producer of /DRIVE recently got up close and personal with Dakar RallyTeam X-raid and the uber trucks that support them. Check it out after the jump.

Tightest Parallel Park Record Broken – TWICE!

Posted in European Rides, General, Mini, Rides, Videos by MrAngry | March 31st, 2013 | 1 Response |

Parallel Parking Mini

John and Alastair are brothers who drive Mini’s. They’re also really, really good at parallel parking. So good in fact that Guinness World Records has given them the record for the tightest parallel parking job in history. It’s not glamorous, not exciting and definitely not a skill that will take you from rags-to-riches. If however your job is to get a small car into a small space, well them, you’re about to watch the masters in action.

Mini Back Flip

They make a two-door, a four door, a convertible, an SUV-ish type thingy, a station wagon and a wicked little performance model called the JCW. This is MINI and over the years they’ve become the iPod of the automotive world. I mean they’re all essentially the same car with different wrappers. Now MINI’s new ad campaign seeks to send their audience into an even bigger frenzy by attempting to pull off the worlds first unassisted back flip (for a car that is) and in the process, gain a whole new host of fans. Is it a childish publicity stunt? Well yes… But that doesn’t keep us from wanting to see it! Click through for the preview.

OK fine, this photo is juvenile and in poor taste but you’ve got to admit that this is exactly what would happen if you started ripping em’ in your MINI Cooper.

2012 MINI JCW Cooper Coupe: Ridelust Review

2012 MINI JCW Cooper Coupe

OK MINI – you’ve done it. You’ve made this die-hard muscle car guy see the light with your little hot-rod roller skate. It handles like a go-kart, has great power and the uncanny ability to plaster a smile on the face of anyone who drives it. This is the 2012 MINI JCW Cooper Coupe and after spending one week and more than 1,000 miles with this little bad-boy I can tell you hands down that this thing is a f*ckin’ riot. I picked up my red and black coupe at San Francisco International airport. I was tired, hung over and quite honestly not in the mood for a road test, much less a spirited drive home. However once I laid eyes on it all that changed. Sitting before me was the little beastie you see here. It looked wickedly bad-ass with its red hat and black trousers and stood out like nothing else in the lot. It was, for lack of a better description, a big middle finger being flipped to the rest of the cookie cutter transportation that littered the lot. Hell, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t psyched knowing that this one was mine.

2012 MINI Cooper S Coupe: RideLust Review

2012 MINI Cooper S Coupe

Thumbs Up: Doesn’t look like anything else, feels faster than it is.

Thumbs Down: Serious blind spots, low roofline for entry, pricey with options.

Buy This Car If: You really want a Cooper S, but don’t want back seats.

It isn’t easy being MINI. As the name implies, any new vehicles have to fit into a certain mold, and unlike most automakers, bigger is not better at MINI. Not only do its products need to adhere to an unwritten size convention, there’s the matter of styling to consider as well. To the uninitiated, a MINI Cooper looks a lot like a Clubman, which in turn just looks like a slightly smaller Countryman. Read More…

The Best Test Drive Ever. Period. | MINI USA

2012 Mini Coupe Commercial

Stewardess, salt flats, paratroopers, sushi, and Falconer. Those were the words used by MINI USA winner Mathew Foster when it came time to describe his perfect MINI commercial in 6 words or less. Big Matt was a contestant in MINI’s, “The Best Test Drive Ever” sweepstakes, whereby he’d get his dream test drive in the new 2012 MINI Coupe. Sure, sliding through the salt flats while a hot Asian chick feeds you sushi may be a little far fetched for some, but in Matthew’s mind, this was a totally feasible idea. I mean commercials are generally shot with a Hollywood director in the drivers seat anyway, so why not get all buck wild and go full force with the filming. Now while I wouldn’t count on you’re MINI experience being this wild, what I would say is go drive one, cause if it’s even 1/10th this fun you’d be a winner all around.
