Mercedes W108 Lowrider

Low Rider Benz

Mercedes-Benz produced the W108 platform from 1965-1972 and in that time created some of the most stylish luxury sedans and coupes to ever roll on tarmac. Even today, the W108’s are some of the most sought after and collectible cars out there. Some owners however stray away from the stock look and add-on some of their own personal touches. The one you see here for instance runs on 20″ wire wheels and airbags and is, in my opinion, one sweet looking sled. Is it for everyone? Well, no. But you’ve got to admit it’s definitely something that will shake the stodginess out of the numbers matching crowd.

Mercedes-Benz UniMog: Crushin’ It!

Unimog

When it comes to heading off-road, vehicles like the Jeep Wrangler, Ford Raptor and Toyota FJ may come to mind. However when it comes to SERIOUS off-roading most people would ditch the aforementioned rides and go straight for the King, or as most know it, the UniMog. Built by Mercedes-Benz, the UniMog has been around since 1947. It’s a true jack-of-all trades and was built primarily to be used by farmers and municipalities. These trucks are not fast, not nimble and certainly not fuel efficient. However, if you are looking for the best off-road vehicle in existence, then there is no beating this thing.

SLS AMG BLACK

When most people think of Mercedes-Benz they think of high-end luxury and performance. They think of cars that are better suited to the autobahn rather than the racetrack. Yet that hasn’t stopped them from trying to produce cars that can take on the likes of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Ferrari 458. The new Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series is such a car, and according to DRIVE’s resident hoon Chris Harris, it may just have a shot at going for the title.

Mercedes-Benz Roadster

Is it really possible to recreate a legend? Some people out there may say yes, but I think the majority would agree that legends are born, not created. When asked to come up with a successor to the iconic 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300SL, designer Paul Bracq had a decision to make. He could try to improve upon a design that was, in the eyes of many enthusiasts, flawless. Or he could craft his own shape and thus, create a new legend. Bracqs’ vision was the Mercedes-Benz W113 SL, a car that made its debut in 1963 and continued production until 1971. More than 48,000 cars where produced and in that time a new audience was found to take up the reigns and help write the next chapter of the Mercedes-Benz roadster.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT

The problem with GT cars here in the U.S. is that for some reason, they’re never really as good as we want them to be. They all have high-style and big power, but they’re a compromise between a true sports car and a full-on open road car. Carlos Lago recently got his hands on the new 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT to see just how good this newly revamped super-Benz really is. Check it out after the jump.

Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6

It’s a crying shame that the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG is one of the most under utilized vehicles sold here in the United States. Generally driven by people of wealth, this is one of those rare beasts that needed an after market builder to get involved before it could actually be taken seriously. Power comes by way of a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 that churns out 544 hp and 560 lb.ft. of torque allowing it to cruise at 100 mph while rolling on 37-inch tires. It also has seating for 8 passengers, full-on off-road capabilities and a presence that is not for the faint of heart. The price? A mere $244,000.00 U.S. or 7.5 million rubles. Check out the video after the jump.

It’s a well known fact that the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is one serious performer. However when the boys at Benz decided to chop the top and create the SLS AMG GT Roadster, some enthusiasts thought that the car would lose some of its performance magic. M6 vs SL63

The perplexing thing about BMW’s M cars and anything with an AMG stamp on it is this – are they sports cars, full-on grand tourers or both? Both the BMW M6 and Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG are brutes when it comes to flat out power, speed and torque, but what about handling and overall road manners? Chris Harris of the DRIVE Network on Youtube recently took both of these cars out for a proper flogging to see if they do in fact fall into a specific category, or if they’re simply a Jack of all trades and master of none. Check it out after the jump.

Forza Horizon January Pack

One of the best parts of the Forza Motor Sport franchise for XBOX 360 are the vast amounts of downloadable content you can get from XBOX Live. From new tracks and car packs to creating your own race series, Forza is the go-to racing game for enthusiasts all over the world. Forza Horizon, the newest game in the franchise is no exception and has just made an announcement of a new car pack that will be available in January of 2013. Included in the download are the following vehicles:

– 2012 Cadillac Escalade ESV
– 1983 GMC Vandura G-1500
– 2012 Lotus Exige S
– 2012 Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition
– 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLR
– 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R

All the new rides are fantastic, although we’ve got to raise an eyebrow at the 1983 GMC Vandura G-1500. My guess is that people by the thousands will be creating A-Team van replicas by the dozens. Either way, click through for the new trailer and check it out.

MercedesBenz300SLGullwing

As we all know it’s not necessarily about getting from A to B that’s important, but the journey in between. Taking the right car on this journey is as equally important. That’s why when we came across this little video of a gentlemen full-fulling his honey-do list, we just had to post it up. Driving a big SUV or a modern sedan is one thing, but a Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing? Now that’s just nirvana on four wheels.
