Introducing the 2014 Jaguar XFR-S

Jaguar XFR-S

It has four doors, a 550 hp 5.0-liter V8, does 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and looks exactly like a Holden Monaro. This is the new 2014 Jaguar XFR-S and aside from looking like a car that was built down under, it strikes us as one hell of an automobile. I recently saw this new cat at the L.A. Auto Show and in person it’s actually quite a looker. This new Jag appeals to those owners who want a bit of extra grunt over the that of the XFR (510 hp). The XFR-S boasts an 8-speed automatic transmission, performance exhaust, unique 20-inch wheels and of course that 550 hp supercharged V8. Prices start at $99,000 which is a pretty big nut. However if you’re fan of these big cats then the Jaguar XFR-S may be exactly what you’re looking for.

Alex Roy Live and Let Drive

Here’s the deal, if you don’t think Alex Roy is a genius on commentary, snarky wisdom and all things loveable about the automobile then there is something wrong with you. Roy is one of the few people in existence that can talk about absolutely nothing of relevance and make it sound interesting. Case in point, his newest video on DRIVE about a fun-filled Jaguar XFR and his old friend and Gumball3000 co-pilot, Brit Michael Ross.

2012 Jaguar XKR-S: RideLust Review

2012 Jaguar XKR-S

Thumbs Up: This cat has claws, not what you expect from Jaguar.

Thumbs down: Good luck finding one, since they’re sold out.

Buy This Car If: You’re looking for the most powerful production Jag ever built.

Jaguars, of late, have not been known for their razor sharp handling. Even so-called sport models have grown soft over the years, and seem to be aimed more at providing a comfortable ride to the country club than at strafing apexes at Sebring. Recent Jags that we’ve driven have been plenty fast in a straight line, but have been saddled with too soft a suspension or too narrow a tire. Read More…

2012 Jaguar XF Supercharged: RideLust Review

2012 Jaguar XF Supercharged

Thumbs Up: Seamless and abundant power in a comfortable and stylish wrapper.

Thumbs Down: Needs more tire.

Buy This Car If: You want a luxury sport sedan alternative to the BMW 550i.

If you think Jaguars are stuffy luxury cars, down on performance and soft of suspension, Jaguar’s midsize XF sedan will change your mind. Available in hot, hotter and hottest, even base models get the benefit of a 5.0-liter V-8, good for 385 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The entry level car will run you from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds, and that’s the slowest model in the XF bunch. Read More…

Old VS New: Jaguar XJ220 VS Jaguar XKRS

2012 Jaguar XKR-S

There is something about watching members of the old guard going up against the new kids on the block. For instance, if you grew up in the 1980’s, then the odds of your automotive icons being the likes of the Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959 are pretty damn good. However if you’re a child of the millennium then you may be partial to cars like the Lamborghini Murcielago or Bugatti Veyron. Whatever your flavor though, you can’t hide from the fact that a super car is a super car, regardless of their build date. Recently EVO Magazine’s Chris Harris went on a little follow-the-leader run at Germany’s famed Nurburgring. Harris is driving Jaguar’s new 505 hp XKR-S, while John Nielsen, the man who help developed the XJ220, sits in front of him in an actual XJ220. So, here’s the question; does Jaguars new big cat, the XKR-S have the stones to keep up with a car that’s 20 years its senior? Click through to find out.

Jaguar Runs The XKR-S Convertible Around The ‘Ring

Posted in Jaguar, Videos by Kurt Ernst | November 26th, 2011 | 1 Response |

If you’re tired of seeing manufacturers run their latest wares around Germany’s Nürburgring circuit in search of the lowest possible elapsed time, here’s a video you may actually enjoy. It stars the all-new and sold-out Jaguar XKR-S Convertible, which packs 550 horsepower and 502 lb.-ft. of torque, will run from 0 – 60 in just over 4 seconds and tops out at 186 mph, even in convertible form. Yes, the front fascia does slightly resemble a catfish, but we’re willing to look beyond that to see the XKR-S’s inner beauty.

Even if you don’t like the car, the top-notch cinematography and above average soundtrack make the video worth watching. Enjoy it below. Read More…

The 2012 Range Rover Evoque: SUV of the Year?

Posted in auto industry, Car Buying, Jaguar, Land Rover, News, Range Rover, SUV, Videos by Kurt Ernst | October 27th, 2011 | 4 Responses |

The Range Rover Evoque was designed to open doors for Jaguar Land Rover, and to attract new customers to the somewhat stodgy brand. For many American buyers, a Range Rover was nothing more than a way of telling the neighbors you made more money than them (and didn’t worry about details like depreciation or reliability). That may work in the suburbs, but it didn’t play well with young, urban hipsters, who Jaguar Land Rover desperately wants as customers. Read More…
