Lamborghini Countach

The Lamborghini Countach and the Ferrari 512BB. Two legendary cars that graced the walls of millions of adolescent boys throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. The Countach Lp400 was powered by a 350 hp V12 that produced 263 lb-ft of torque. This meant a top speed of over 180 mph – in 1974!! The Ferrari pumped out 360 hp and 333 lb-ft of torque from its horizontal flat-12 engine and also ran over 180 mph flat out. Both cars are icons and both extremely quick, even by today’s standards. The biggest problem though is their price tags, as each car commands high 6-figures. Oh well… one can dream.

The Persuaders

It used to be that capturing a car chase was one of the most difficult endeavors in all of film making. Camera rigs were not only cumbersome, heavy and unreliable, but ungodly expensive. Today, filming automobiles is as simple as using a suction cup mount and a GoPro and lets us get shots never even thought of 40 years ago. The Persuaders, with Tony Curtis and Roger Moore was shot in the early 1970’s and features a car chase featuring a 1969 Dino 246 GT and a 1970 Aston Martin DBS. For back in the day it was actually quite good, however by today’s standards it just downright pitiful. Just goes to show you that sometimes technology is a very, very good thing.

Ferrari 250 GTE

Sometimes being Italian has its privileges. First there’s the food, then there’s the wonderful culture and lastly, there is Ferrari. Back in the early 1960’s in Rome, organized crime was running rampant. However thanks to the efforts of Rome’s Mobile Squad they were able to get it under control. As a thank you, Giovanni Gronchi, Italy’s President at the time, decided to reward them by asking Enzo Ferrari for two Police cars. The first one was unfortunately destroyed in a fatal crash, however the second one was used by Police until 1968. I can almost guarantee that this will be the best 6:38 seconds of your day, so make sure to click through and check it out.

Jaguar XJ220

If you had access to a Ferrari Enzo, Two Ferrari F50’s, a Bugatti EB110ss, Rolls Royce Phantom II, and a Jaguar XJ220, how would you drive them? Would you baby them and regard them as sculptures, or would you beat the ever-loving snot out of them and drive them as they were suppose to be driven. Tax the Rich is a fun little video series that shows a few very lucky owners driving their super cars in anger, or as we see it, the way that they’re supposed to be driven.

Ferrari 208 gt4

If you were to rank Ferrari’s by model from top to bottom, the 208 GT4 would be sitting on lowest step. It’s kinda’ fugly looking, is slow and while interesting to look at, I wouldn’t call this a particularly sexy automobile. There are some folks out there however who really dig these little buggers. Bradley Price is a designer and owner of Autodromo and for him, this obscure piece of Italian history is all it needs to be and more. Click through and check it out.

Ferrari 275 GTB

We fall in love with their sound, their styling and the emotions they make us feel. Perhaps no other car company on Earth can make us drool quite so much as Ferrari. Eddie Smith fell in love with the brand when his son brought him to Sebring Raceway and he first heard these wonderful machines run. He then befriended Luigi Chinetti, the North American importer at the time and the rest is well, history. Sometimes the relationships we develop with these cars go beyond money and rationale. They transport us away from everyday life and into a place where we just feel good. This is the story of Eddie Smith and Eddie Smith Jr. and their relationship with a 1 of 10 Ferrari 275 GTB/4*S Spider.

eBay Deal of the Week: Ferrari 288 GTO Recreation

Ferrari 288 GTO

Now this is a recreation that I’d gladly put in my garage. This is a 1976 Ferrari 308 base model that’s been painstakingly transformed into a Ferrari 288 GTO, sans the twin-turbo V8. The original 224 hp DOHC V8 engine is still in place with four tuned Weber carburetors feeding it fuel. The front and rear fenders have been flared and new wheels help give this old Ferrari a very sinister look. The interior has also been redone to a level that is nothing short of spectacular. Check out the full ad by clicking on the eBay link below, or simply click through for more photos.
