Mercedes A45 AMG v BMW M135i: Chris Harris on Cars

Mercedes A45

Two German hot-hatches, one rear-wheel drive, one all-wheel drive. Both come with window stickers over $35,000 in the UK and will never be offered here in the United States. So, should we then, care about them? The answer – YES! YES! YES! Both the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG and BMW M135i are two cars that would no doubt sell like hotcakes here in the U.S., but since we’ll never get them, we’ll have to be content with rides like the Ford Focus ST and the Mazda Speed3. Great cars on their own, but still a league away from the big boys overseas. Click through as Chris Harris tells us what we’re missing.

Jack’s Toy Is a BMW Isetta

BMW Isetta

This is Jack Charney, and on his sweater is a beautiful 1957 BMW Isetta. It’s the same one he bought new in 1957, sold and then bought back again more than 20 years later. Jack, first and foremost is a man with a good sense of humor. You see he loves the attention he gets in his Isetta. He loves the laughs, the thumbs-up and the smiles that it brings not only to him, but to everyone around him. For most of us a car like the Isetta would be an awful thing to drive everyday, but for Jack Charney, it was magical, so much so that he got to relieve the experience twice in one lifetime… Not bad.

2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe: The Best M Money Can Buy?

Posted in BMW, European Rides, General, Rides, Videos by MrAngry | June 28th, 2013 | Leave a Reply |

BMW M6 Gran Coupe

3,700 lbs!! That’s the lightest M based performance vehicle that BMW currently makes. It used to be that if you wanted a true no-holds-barred sports sedan, then these were the guys you went to. However these days it seems that BMW is more concerned with volume than actually producing a true car for the enthusiast. In fact the last car we saw that really pushed all the right buttons was the 1 Series M, but of course they killed it off after building just 6,000 of them. Why would you do that? According to Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman, there still may be hope for the brand as he recently got his hands on a 2014 M6 Gran Coupe. Yes it’s big and expensive, but according to him, it’s one damn fine automobile. Check it out after the jump.

There Are No Substitutes for a BMW E30 M3

Posted in Best of, BMW, European Rides, General, M Series, Rides, Videos by MrAngry | June 16th, 2013 | 1 Response |

BMW E30 M3

Gabor Mester was a man with a mission. From a young age he was enamored by a certain BMW E30 M3 that lived in the garage of a family friend. On weekends he’d wash it, admire it and on occasion, take it on a drive around the block. Gabor however didn’t just want an E30 M3, he wanted THAT particular M3. You see this was the one he salivated over, the one he yearned for. So, when his family friends decided to sell, he did everything he could to get his hands on it. The end result was one very happy man and a car that is sure to be around for a long, long time.

Bugatti VS Juke R

By now we all know that Nissan’s Juke R is one wicked little sonofabitch. I mean what was basically a design and engineering exercise by Nissan has turned out to be one of the quickest (and infamous) little SUVs on the planet. The guys over at Drag Times have managed to not only get a hold of a Juke R, but run it against the speed King himself, the Bugatti Veyron. The results are frighteningly close.

Electric BMW E36

EV West isn’t like other electric car builders. They aren’t trying to save the planet from gasoline emissions, they are trying to build race cars using electric technology for events that can best use that technology. The Pikes Peak International Hillclimb, with a total driving distance of under 20 miles at very high elevation, is one of those events. We take their Pike’s Peak M3 to the dyno to find out what 400 Kilowatts means in Horsepower, then to see how it drives.TUNED

Exploring the Arctic Circle in a BMW R 1150 GS

BMW R 1150 GS

I’ll be honest, one of the last places on this Earth that I’d want to go is the Arctic Circle. You see I hate the cold, like REALLY hate the cold. I know I’d be missing out on the picturesque beauty and tranquility, but at days end I’d find a way to deal with it. Murph (the guy in this video) is different. So different in fact that he went to the Arctic Circle on his trusty BMW R 1150 GS motorcycle. Even though he may (or may not) have a screw lose, I’ve got to give the guy credit, as this is one thing I’d never attempt.

Like I said, I hate the cold.
