When it comes to heading off-road, vehicles like the Jeep Wrangler, Ford Raptor and Toyota FJ may come to mind. However when it comes to SERIOUS off-roading most people would ditch the aforementioned rides and go straight for the King, or as most know it, the UniMog. Built by Mercedes-Benz, the UniMog has been around since 1947. It’s a true jack-of-all trades and was built primarily to be used by farmers and municipalities. These trucks are not fast, not nimble and certainly not fuel efficient. However, if you are looking for the best off-road vehicle in existence, then there is no beating this thing.

When most people think of Mercedes-Benz they think of high-end luxury and performance. They think of cars that are better suited to the autobahn rather than the racetrack. Yet that hasn’t stopped them from trying to produce cars that can take on the likes of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Ferrari 458. The new Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series is such a car, and according to DRIVE’s resident hoon Chris Harris, it may just have a shot at going for the title.

It’s a crying shame that the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG is one of the most under utilized vehicles sold here in the United States. Generally driven by people of wealth, this is one of those rare beasts that needed an after market builder to get involved before it could actually be taken seriously. Power comes by way of a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 that churns out 544 hp and 560 lb.ft. of torque allowing it to cruise at 100 mph while rolling on 37-inch tires. It also has seating for 8 passengers, full-on off-road capabilities and a presence that is not for the faint of heart. The price? A mere $244,000.00 U.S. or 7.5 million rubles. The perplexing thing about BMW’s M cars and anything with an AMG stamp on it is this – are they sports cars, full-on grand tourers or both? Both the BMW M6 and Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG are brutes when it comes to flat out power, speed and torque, but what about handling and overall road manners? One of the best parts of the Forza Motor Sport franchise for XBOX 360 are the vast amounts of downloadable content you can get from XBOX Live. From new tracks and car packs to creating your own race series, Forza is the go-to racing game for enthusiasts all over the world. Forza Horizon, the newest game in the franchise is no exception and has just made an announcement of a new car pack that will be available in January of 2013. Included in the download are the following vehicles:

Porsche vs Lotus, Toyota vs Morgan, BMW vs Porsche as well as a host of other great automobiles battle it out for the EVO Car of the Year 2012. Now while all of these battles are excellent the ones you really want to focus on are the Toyota GT86 vs the Morgan 3-Wheeler, and the McLaren 12c vs the Pagani Huayra. Sure the others are fun, but bang for the buck, these four automobiles should leave you coming away speechless.

When the Mercedes-Benz SLS came out in 2010 the motoring press stood up and took notice. This was not just any Mercedes mind you, but the modern interpretation of one of the greatest automobiles ever made, the 1953 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. The new SLS was packed with the newest technology and of course, an engine made by the Gods. A 6.2-L V8 making 563 hp and 479 lb.ft of torque was stuffed under the hood giving us performance figures of 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, a quarter-mile of 11.6 seconds and a top speed of 197 mph. Not too shabby. It’s now 2012 and the boys at Benz have decided to give the SLS the Black Series treatment. Click through and check it out!
