Attending track events can be one of the most exhilarating and exciting things you can do with your car. From novice drivers to experts, nothing says “fun” like wringing out your ride at speed. With speed however comes the chance for danger and in a race track environment there is usually “zero” warning when things are about to go south. The following video was recently shot at Northern California’s Thunderhill Raceway and shows just how unpredictable things can get even when there are experienced drivers behind the wheel.

There’s something special about vintage American iron. Something that can’t be defined or found in cars from other parts of the world. Classic American cars seem to stand for something and carry with them an aura of pride and power. They’re made of strength and steel and unlike imports of a similar vintage, these old sleds are appreciated by just about everyone. On this episode of HemmingsTV, we’re treated to a 1965 “Top Flight” Corvette that’s owned by NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society) member Don Colbeth.
What we have here is a nice driver quality 1963 Chevrolet Corvette split window coupe. One of the rarest Corvettes ever produced, the split window was available for one model year only. What I like about this ad is that the owner seems to be giving a very fair and honest description of the car. The Ermine white lacquer paint for instance is said to be in nice shape, but does have some cracking and the undercarriage, although clean, is not detailed. Equipped with a numbers matching 327 cu.in. V8, a Borg Warner T-10 4-speed and showing a very nice a red interior, this beautiful coupe is sure to stand out wherever it’s driven. The “buy it now” price is set at $65,000.00 U.S. which seems in line with other ’63 Corvettes on the market. So, if you’re interested you can click through to see a few more pics, or go directly to the eBay link below.

If you own a performance car then you should know that taking it to the racetrack is one of the best things you can do. Be it a Porsche, Ferrari or even something as average as a Mustang, these cars now offer a fun factor that has never been greater. However if you’re not into taking your street car on the track than be thankful, as AVI Racing has the answer to your prayers. Enter their Corvette GT1 track car. Custom built with tire shredding track days in mind, the AVI Corvette features a full tube chassis that’s mated to some of the best suspension components in the business. Matt Farah of TUNED recently had a chance to experience this track weapon first hand and at days end he came away more than impressed.

With all the hoopla surrounding the recently released 2014 C7 Corvette, it seems that people are forgetting just how good the outgoing C6 actually is. To cap off their final production run Chevrolet has seen fit to release the final edition by way of the Corvette 427. That means 505 hp, an almost 200 mph top speed and a roof that disappears at the touch of a button. The other thing to consider is that dealers will be HEAVILY discounting the current crop of C6 Vette’s currently on the market, so if your interested, now is the time to act!

The 2014 Corvette Stingray is finally here along with a laundry list of answered questions. One of the most anticipated cars in recent years, the new ‘Vette is a machine that was not only meant to be a better Corvette, but a world beating sports car. The design, love it or hate it, is more compelling than the outgoing C6. It’s lines are more finely sculpted with an air of finesse that translates well over the cars entire body. The cars interior (the Achilles heal of the C6) has been re-imagined from the ground up, as was the Vette’s new LT1 engine and suspension system. Car and Driver Contributing Editor Csaba Csere, recently asked a host of questions to key people in the Corvette’s development, including Kirk Bennion (Exterior Design Manager), Tadge Jeuchter (Chief Engineer) and Harlan Charles (Product Manager). The video is long, but so worth the watch if you are even remotely interested in the new 2014 Corvette Stingray.

When Ford released the new 5.0-liter engine dubbed the “COYOTE” for the new Mustang back in 2011 fans the world over stood up and took notice. You see back in the mid-1980′s and early 1990′s 5-liter Mustangs were THE car to own. The engines made great power and torque and with a massive aftermarket, tuners could go crazy if they wanted to. The same can be said for this new 5.0. Take for instance this next gen pony that’s been fitted with a turbo and that’s having a little fun with a Corvette ZR1. Now granted we don’t condone street racing of any kind, but dear God does that Mustang pull…

Going to the drag strip can be a daunting affair, especially if you’re not an experienced racer. However before lining up for your run down the 1,320 there are some things that need to be known. First off, when running low profile street tires there isn’t a need to do a burnout. Secondly, if you’re going to try and roast the hides you’d better practice first. Don’t believe me? Take a look at what happened to this poor guy and his Z06 Corvette.
