Team Chevrolet

“Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday” – that’s the saying that manufacturers use to say back in the 1960’s when racing was everything. It meant a pride in your product and it was a way to get people excited about what they were purchasing. Over the years many manufacturers have dropped this philosophy. Thankfully though, Chevrolet isn’t one of them.

2014 Z28 Camaro

The Z/28 has always been the “go to” Camaro if you wanted to go fast around corners. It was originally introduced in 1967 as a performance package for the standard Camaro for those who wanted to go Trans Am racing. It came with a solid-lifter 302 V8, 4-speed transmission, power disc brakes and some big ‘ole stripes on the hood so as to set it apart from other models. With the rebirth of the Camaro in 2010, enthusiasts wanted to know one big question – will there be a new Z/28? The answer – YES! Jay Leno recently got his hands on one of the first production models and seems to be quite impressed. Check it out after the jump!

Dodge Super Bee

Classic cars and summer heat mix like oil and water. The cars overheat, boil fuel and vapor lock which causes most owners to simply keep them in the garage until the outside temperature drops. If however your names are Freiburger & Finnegan and you work for Hot Rod Magazine, well then, you throw caution to the wind and run them anyway. In this episode of Road Kill, the boys decide to turn a 6 hour trip into one that takes 12 hours by taking Freiburger’s HEMI powered 1970 Dodge Super Bee and his 1967 blown Chevy Camaro on a 1,500 mile ride from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City.

Nitro Warriors 2

Nitro Warriors is a stop motion animated car chase that first appeared in 2012. It featured an old Mach 1 Mustang running from the police in a very James Bond-ish style. Now, almost 1 year later, Nitro Warriors 2 is out and with it we’re treated to more amazing stop motion animation, a very creative imagination, and an ending that just keeps us wanting more.

Corvette C7 Burnouts

The new 2014 Corvette is a beast of a machine. Under the bonnet it packs a 460 horsepower V8 that produces 465 lb.-ft of torque and a 0-60 mph time of under 4-seconds. It’s got a brand new look, a fully redesigned interior (thank you GOD!) and with numbers for a base car with the Z51 package rivaling that of most super cars, it may just be the greatest car America has ever produced. Oh… it also does some WICKED burnouts and brake stands as demonstrated here by Smoking Tire host Matt Farah.

Are wagons cool?

Caprice Wagon

They’re big, somewhat boxy, and on rare occasions, sporty. I speak of course about our old friend, the station wagon. Over the past 6 years I’ve owned two wagons, and honestly, I’ve loved them both. My first was a 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8. This was a 168 mph bread box with 425 hp/ 425 lb.ft of torque and Brembo brakes. It was fast and super comfy, but unfortunately didn’t really have that much space. My current box is a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice wagon with the ever popular lounge chair seating and a grossly underpowered 5.7-liter V8. It does however seat 8 and with the seats down, will hold a 4×8 sheet plywood. I love this thing and truly enjoy the driving experience. However even though I think it’s cool with its big fuselage shape, no one else seems to.

Manufacturers nowadays are calling their new wagons “shooting brakes”, a name that doesn’t really resonate here in the United States. Maybe it’s to make them appear trendy, or perhaps they’re trying to find a new market. Whatever the case though I’m not sure a simple name change will bring the “cool” back to these road beasts. Whatcha’ all think – are, and or can wagons be cool, or are we kidding ourselves about these old school road going relics.

2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray Z51: Motor Trend

2014 Corvette Stingray

The 2014 C7 Chevrolet Corvette is one of the most anticipated cars of the last 10 years. Where the C6 was a great car, Chevrolet sought to make the C7 an outstanding one. One look at the numbers will tell you it’s pretty hardcore. For instance the base model Corvette Stingray with the Z51 package pumps out 460 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque, runs 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed upwards of 190 mph. Not to shabby for a car that costs under $70,000. Motor Trends Carlos Lago recently got his hands on this new Stingray and came away pretty impressed! Check it out after the jump.

Black Beauty: 1966 Chevelle Malibu – /BIG MUSCLE

1966 Chevrolet Chevelle

A long wheelbase, v8 or v12 power, front engine/rear drive configuration, and a sport-tuned suspension with four comfy seats inside. That ladies and gentlemen is the recipe for any good grand touring car. Modern automobiles like the Mercedes-Benz CL63, BMW M6 and the Bentley Continental GT are perfect examples of this. How about a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu though – what about that? When released in 1966, this 2nd generation Chevelle was nothing more than a mid-priced, nicely appointed people mover with some decent styling. However now, some 47 years later, owner Enzo Morales has transformed this particular car into a jaw-dropping, hardcore styled road burner that is just as happy running the super-slab at triple digits as it is carving up your favorite back road.

Mid-Engine Crown Corvair: Porsche Cayman Fighter

1965 Corvair Crown V8

Wouldn’t it have been great if the United States had one truly great mid-engine sports car? I mean yes, there was the Ford GT40, Ford GT and of course the Pontiac Fiero (that sucked though), but just imagine if American manufacturers really had their act together and created something awesome. Chuck Rust, the owner of this 1965 Corvair Crown V8, knew that the little Chevy had great potential and that with A LOT of work (and some ingenuity), it could be turn into something outstanding. This car is about fun, performance and proving people wrong. It sounds outstanding, has some of the best lines out there, and thanks to a little funky paint and graphic work from its’ owner, has a presence that few cars can match. One of the most well balanced performers we’ve ever driven, this Corvair Crown had us grinning from ear to ear from the first moment we turned the key.

eBay Deal of the Week: 1989 Chevrolet Caprice Hulk Edition

Posted in Best of, Chevrolet, Collector Cars, Custom, Death Wish, Domestic Rides, eBay Motors, General, Hot Rods, Promoted, Rides by MrAngry | July 15th, 2013 | Leave a Reply |

Okay, I’ll admit it, there is nothing about this car that screams deal. However this sucker is so off the charts nutty that we had to post it as the eBay Deal of the Week. This is a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice that’s been turned into one of the most interesting tributes to the Incredible Hulk that I’ve ever seen. The interior is a full custom job that’s black with reptile accents and custom air brushing. The door jambs, underside of the hood and trunk, dash, door panels, custom center console are all done with amazing detail. It sports a 505 hp 7.0L LS7 that will turn the 30″ tires into glue as you’re activating the remote dumpers for the exhaust. Now obviously this thing isn’t for everybody, hell it may not be for anybody. But if you’re a fan of the HULK and you want the most outrageous piece of fan tribute, then this little gem is your monkey! Check out more pics after the jump, or head directly to the eBay ad below.
