2012 Dodge Charger SRT8

Thumbs Up: Drives a thousand pounds lighter than it is

Thumbs Down: Transmission is still just a five speed

2012 Ford Edge Limited FWD EcoBoost: RideLust Review

2012 Ford Edge Limited EcoBoost

Thumbs Up: Contemporary styling, comfortable ride.

Thumbs Down: Heavy on chrome and fake-wood trim.

Buy This Car If: You’re looking for a fuel-efficient crossover that can still carry five adults.

If Goldilocks were shopping Ford’s product lineup for an SUV or crossover, there’s a good chance that she’d settle on the not-too-small-but-not-too-big Ford Edge. It’s got more interior room (and higher build quality) than the outgoing Ford Escape, yet it’s smaller than either the Explorer SUV or the Edge crossover. In fact, for the average American family with 2.4 kids and a dog, the Edge is just about the perfect size. Read More…

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 vs. Nissan GT-R

Camaro ZL1 vs Nissan GT-R

Pairing up the new 2012 Camaro ZL1 against Nissan’s mighty GT-R is the equivalent of bringing a knife to a gun fight. I mean sure, there is a chance that you could get lucky, but those odds are pretty slim, so the best bet would simply be not to accept the challenge in the first place. There is no question that Chevy’s new super mullet is a pure animal. It’s got 580 hp, performance traction management and enough testosterone to impregnate the state of Texas. However at days end the Camaro is still a muscle car, which means it has muscle car DNA, which means it was never meant to take on the likes of the GT-R. Yes it’s fast and to date there is no question that its probably the most well sorted production muscle car ever built. However the Nissan GT-R is a super car that was built to take on the world’s best and because of this the competition was over before it even began.

I Really Miss Good Fuel Economy

Chevrolet Cruze

This past weekend I took a little trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles and back. That’s 400 miles there, 400 miles back and about 300 around town miles. At first I was going to take my ’68 Charger and stretch its legs a bit, but at 10 mpg and after figuring out that it would’ve cost me over $500.00 in fuel, I decided against it. Then I considered taking my Dodge Magnum SRT8. However at a combined mpg of 16 mpg that would’ve run me over $300.00. My solution? I rented a Chevrolet Cruze from Hertz for $85 for the weekend, used my own insurance and spent a total of $120 in fuel. So, for just a tad over $200 I got there and back without using any of my own cars.

Damn… I really need to think about updating my garage.

Muscle Cars and Road Courses Make Unlikely Partners

Posted in Dodge, Domestic Rides, DRIVE, Ford, General, Rides, Videos by MrAngry | February 10th, 2012 | Leave a Reply |

Let me be the first to say that putting a muscle car on a road course is an exercise in futility. They’re big, heavy and at days end, where never meant to endure the rigors of road course duty. Sure there were raced back in the 1960′s and ’70′s in the Trans Am series, but those were purpose built race cars, not street cars. Matt Farah of Youtube’s DRIVE Network recently had the chance to flog two muscle cars of different eras; one a 1970 Dodge Challenger built by Hotchkis Suspension Systems and the other being a 2011 Ford Mustang GT with every bolt-on part imaginable. Group B Worship: Ford RS200 and Audi Sport Quattro

Audi Sport Quattro

The Ford RS200 and the Audi Sport Quattro are two of the most recognizable rally cars ever produced. They were built in a time when automotive technology was flourishing, but by today’s standards they are crude and archaic. They were built in limited numbers to satisfy the homologation rules for the Group B rally cars that ran between 1984-1986, and because of this they are now some of the most desirable cars in the world. Chris Harris of Youtube’s new DRIVE network recently got behind the wheel of both the RS200 and Audi Sport Quattro for an experience that few other drivers have ever had. 2012 Corvette Z06 VS Nissan GT-R

The mighty 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition vs Godzilla, the 2013 Nissan GT-R Premium. Both of these cars are titans of speed. One is a technological powerhouse, the other a tried and true American sledgehammer. Neither of these cars is for the faint of heart and both will get you into serious trouble if you’re not careful. The big question though is… which is faster? Inside Line recently pitted these two road rockets against each other to find the answer to that exact question.

Cadillac ATS Tackles the “Green Hell”

2013 Cadillac ATS

It’s no secret that Cadillac has a lot riding on their new ATS sports sedan. I mean let’s face it, if you come out saying your going to best the BMW 3-series well then, you’ve really got your work cut out for you. Set to air on Super Bowl Sunday Cadillac is touting the fact that the ATS was developed at the Nürburgring, that wonderful track in Germany that’s in the wet dreams of every automotive enthusiast. We know that the ATS will have a variety of engines ranging from a 2.0L turbo-four, to a 3.6L V6, to a (we hope) 470 hp V8, but will these power plants be enough to topple one of the greatest small sedans ever? We’ll soon find out I suppose, we’ll soon find out…

Jeep Jump

If you’re a man then you already know that we come pre-programmed from the womb with a little bit of stupid inside us. As children we try any number of ways to kill ourselves on a daily basis without ever thinking of the consequences. As adults, we do the same thing, but we just count on our medical insurance to bail us out if we really screw ourselves up. There are people however who are always reaching for the gold medal in the stupidity challenge which is why this video is being brought to you today. Once again we are treated to the antics of the N.A.R. (North American Redneck) in their true backwoods habitat. This time however they’re running through the countryside in a few jacked-up Jeeps intent on ending their lives by using the least amount of their brains possible.

How Loud is Too Loud?

Pontiac Trans Am

The 1979 Pontiac Trans Am, the Lamborghini Countach and the 1969 Dodge Daytona. Three cars that exhibit characters that are completely outlandish for any automobile of any era. The Trans Am for example, with its big screaming chicken on the hood and t-topped roof is reminiscent of the 1970′s disco scene. The Countach simply screams “I LOVE COCAINE” and the Dodge Daytona, well that was a car designed to go fast when go fast technology didn’t even exist. My point is this; you can still, if you have the means go out and pick-up any one of these cars and drive them all the time.
