Imagine having bass AND trunk room.

Magna International calls themselves “the most diversified automotive supplier in the world”, providing manufacturers with everything from electronics to body and chassis components. Need to design or manufacture your own vehicle from the ground up? Magna can help with that, too, so when they claim to have developed “a whole new way to generate sound in a car”, I’m inclined to believe them. Read More…

Automotive Music Videos

I’m always stoked when I see a new music video come out with a hot car, truck or bike in it. I mean hell, all of us who are car enthusiasts have great memories of, at one point or another, cruising down the highway with the stereo blasting with our favorite tunes. While some of us may dig tunes like Sir Mix-A-Lot’s: Carz or Audioslave’s: Show Me How To Live, I generally find myself cruising out to the likes of the Rolling Stones. Whatever your poison though, it doesn’t change the fact that cars and music go together like peanut butter and jelly, only without the mess. The following is a short list of video’s (that I don’t think I’ve posted before) that utilize some sort of bad-ass vehicle as one of their main characters. Click through for the vids and enjoy.

David Beckham’s 911 Turbo for Sale on eBay.

David Beckham 911 Turbo

What we have here is soccer star David Beckham’s 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo and it’s up for sale on eBay. Aside from soccer though Beckham is also known for being married to one of the old Spice Girls, not sure which one though, nor do I care. This particular 911 Turbo has been given the full murdered out treatment, and while I dig that, I can’t really get with the fact that his number (23) is plastered everywhere. It’s on the seats, the center caps of the wheels, and the floor mats. Who knows, maybe Beckham just has a bad memory and constantly needs to be reminded of who he is. Aside from the numbers everywhere I have to say this car truly is in pristine condition, and with just over 6500 mile on the clock it’s also just barely broken in. Other custom modifications aside from the paint and upholstery work, are a nice set of rims, Techart exhaust system and bass speakers hidden under the rear jump seats – all in all a great car. I’m just wondering how much moola’ it would cost to get all those 23′s out of that thing.

Merry Christmas from Queens, NY.

Posted in Celebrity Cars, Music, Videos by MrAngry | December 25th, 2010 | 1 Response |

Unfortunately when you live in Queens, NY there is simply not a lot to brag about. Our houses are stacked on each other, our neighbors can be somewhat aggravating and now and again, even a car gets vandalized (really it’s true). From time to time though we have produced some quality things. For example our Korean and Italian food kicks some serious ass, as does our access to two of New York’s major airports, LaGuardia and JFK. Our biggest achievement though came back in the mid-1980′s, when the first pioneers of rap burst onto the scene. I speak of course of RUN-DMC and since it’s Christmas I figured I’d put up a little tune that is near and dear to my heart. Now I know this has nothing to do with automobiles, but hey… it’s Christmas so lighten up, hit play and enjoy a great Christmas classic from the hometown of your Editor-in-Chief.

The way Christmas should sound!

There are a few of us out there who think that Santa’s sleigh should be powered by a blown nitro-burning big-block, and that Rudolph’s nose should be replaced with a pair of angel-eyes from a BMW. Not only do I understand this mentality, but I totally agree with it. You see for us car guys Christmas is not so much a time of giving gifts, as it is a time too build, modify and create. Hot rods, imports and euro-sleds from around the world are enclosed in their garages for the winter just waiting for their owners to lay their hands upon them and upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. Some of us live in the land of snow and ice, which mean that our winters are long and harsh. Those in the sunshine belt however are blessed, as they truly can enjoy this holiday season. For those of us who are part of the chosen-frozen, I would like to present you with this Mustang fastback, as nothing says Merry Christmas like a well tuned V8.

Pioneer Electronics USA Releases ‘Top Ten Road Trip Songs’ List

Posted in Bizarre, Cars, driving, Lists, Music, Road Trips by Kurt Ernst | December 9th, 2010 | 11 Responses |

Fact: you cannot begin an epic road trip without an epic playlist, but no two people can ever agree on what constitutes an epic playlist. My musical tastes run to extremes, so there’s no telling what’s going to come up at random. It could be Vivaldi, it could be Nine Inch Nails. It may be some obscure Delta blues musician, or it may even be Rammstein (and trust me on this, “Du Hast” doesn’t mean what you think it does). In any case, there are two absolutes with me and road trip music: sooner or later, we’ll be listening to Reverend Horton Heat (“Holy Roller”, most likely), and with the exception of “Highway to Hell”, none of the other songs on the Pioneer list would make one of my playlists.

Sir Mix-A-Lot’s ‘Carz’ Is An Epic, NSFW Video Win

There are car guys and then there are car guys: when you think of rap and hip-hop stars, I’ll bet most of you think “posers who own a Ferrari or a Lamborghini just for their image”. After watching this video, I have to give serious props to Sir Mix-A-Lot; not only is he a bona fide gear head, but the man even speaks our language. “Carz” has something for everyone, with rhymes like “my car’s got miles – garage queens, that’s YOUR style”. Even Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood’s got to dig the line “turn off my phone, hear THESE tones”. I wonder if he’ll license the video for an upcoming PSA?

Jamiroquai’s “White Knuckle Ride” is full of Porsche Goodness.

Posted in Celebrity Cars, Classic, Collector Cars, Cool Stuff, Music, Pop Culture, Porsche, Videos by MrAngry | November 5th, 2010 | 1 Response |

The only thing better than being a musical celebrity is being a musical celebrity who is into cars. Jamiroquai front man Jay Kay is a petrolhead in the truest sense, owning a whole fleet of classic cars. He’s got a stellar Lamborghini Miura, a bunch of Porsche’s as well as a few Mercedes with the grand total coming to more than 30 cars. Aside from owning these beautiful machines Jay Kay also drives the piss out of them as can be seen in his video for “White Knuckle Ride”. Here he drives his 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 Carrera RS whilst being chased by a helicopter. Hell, I bet he wrote the song just so he could film himself driving the car. I know that’s what I would have done. The lyrics to the song actually have nothing to do with cars persay, but frankly we don’t give a damn as we’re just happy to see someone thrashing on a vintage Porsche. Big hat tip to Jay Kay for making us smile!

Car Movies and How They’ve Influenced Us.

Cannonball Run, Smokey and the Bandit and Bullitt. For me, three of the greatest pieces of cinema ever made. I remember watching the opening scene from Cannonball Run where the black Lamborghini Countach was chased by the Pontiac Trans Am State Trooper through the desert. Its V12 engine was singing, the theme music was blasting in the background and all the while I sat there completely enamored. I was nine years old, and from that day forward I remember thinking, that’s what I wanted to do for the rest of my life – I wanted to drive. As time progressed other movies like To Live and Die in L.A., the French Connection and Ronan came into my life and pushed me further still towards the automotive lifestyle.

RideLust Readers’ Top Car Songs

Posted in Cars, Cool Stuff, Funny Videos, General, Music, Videos by Kurt Ernst | September 15th, 2010 | 7 Responses |

Actually, they do write songs about Volvos...

I posted the AOL Radio list of top ten songs about cars the other day, and I only agreed with a few of them. Below are your top car songs, with a few I threw in to balance out the mix. Remember, these are car song, not driving songs, so don’t flame me for leaving out Radar Love, or Woke Up This Morning, or Valerie. Or whatever your favorite mash-the-pedal-to-the-floorboard anthem happens to be.

These are in no particular order, and my thanks go to the readers who offered up suggestions. You’ll notice this list doesn’t specify “Top 10”, so I’ll keep adding to from time to time. Got a suggestion? Let me hear it.
