Lebron James Maybach 57S

A white Maybach 57S with 'King of Ohio' plates - I wonder who that could be.

Lebron James has some tough choices ahead of him. The NBA free agent is the darling of the league, and finds himself in the enviable position of being able to play for any team that can afford him. The most current rumors have him headed to Miami, which is just about ground zero for obscenely rich car guys. Even James’ custom Maybach 57 will be just another car on the streets of South Beach. Of course he could fool us all and sign with New York, where even his F430 would blend in with the crowd.

Maybach Exelero Concept

The Maybach Exelero, built for Fulda Tire in 2005.

Is your current Maybach not getting you the attention you richly deserve? Think that the uber-posh Knight XV 15 is uglier than a $5 crack whore? Have you lusted after the Maybach Exelero since it debuted in 2005? In that case, I’ve got good news and bad news.

First the good news: if you’ve got $670,000, you can get Lamborghini Geneva to build you an Exelero. Yes, I know that the original Exelero was actually built by Maybach, but don’t worry about that just yet. For nearly $700k you get the world’s most sinister coupe, powered by a supercharged V10 motor said to be good for 800 horsepower.

Have you achieved nirvana this week? Probably not, and it’s only Tuesday. Since the rest of the week is going to be a grind, kick back and enjoy a few more automotive haikus. They won’t get you any closer to nirvana (or Friday, for that matter), but they may make you chuckle. Do you have a better offer for a Tuesday?

Don't you want to do the same thing in the desert with a Jeep?

The basic formula for a Japanese haiku is simple: it’s composed of three lines, the first having five syllables, the second having seven and the third having five again. You don’t get many words, but if you choose them carefully they say a lot.

2011 Maybach: 20 Feet of Audi A8 L Crushing Comfort!

Posted in Auto Show, Exotic Cars, Expensive Cars, Maybach, Newsworthy by MrAngry | April 23rd, 2010 | 2 Responses |

Fine… I’ll admit that I was 100% totally and completely wrong last week when I wrote the blog “2011 Audi A8L: 17 Feet of Maybach Crushing Comfort!” It wasn’t my fault though as I hadn’t seen the new for 2011 Maybach yet as they hadn’t been released. Now that I watched the above video though my decision has been utterly and completely reversed. I mean seriously, these things are majorly plush. The new 2011 Maybach line is going to debut at the Beijing Auto Show and from the looks of it there is nothing on the road that can match it.

2011 Maybach 62

The updated 2011 Maybach 57 and Maybach 62 models will debut in Beijing with both good news and bad news. First the good: the refreshed Maybachs feature a revised front and rear fascia, a restyled hood, a new front bumper, new mirrors, restyled taillights and a chrome grille. Standard Maybach models receive 21 spoke, 19 inch wheels while S version Maybachs get 12 spoke, 20 inch wheels. On the inside, rear seat passengers can now enjoy wireless internet on a 19 inch screen, and even short wheelbase Maybach 57 rear passengers can enjoy reclining seats previously reserved for those buying the Maybach 62. Opt for the big ‘Bach, and you can order an electro-transparent roof panel that changes from opaque to clear at your command. With all the revisions for the new model year, your neighbors will definitely know that you ponied up for a new Maybach, and didn’t cheap out buying a used one. More pics of the restyle below.

Maybach Brand To Be Eliminated?

2010 Maybach Zeppelin: Irony in branding?

Faced with declining sales of its flagship brand, Daimler is rumored to be winding down operations at Maybach. Instead, Daimler (parent to both Maybach and Mercedes Benz) will focus on taking the current S-Class Mercedes upscale in both content and technology.

With increased content comes higher pricing, and in the case of the new S-Class it appears to be significantly higher pricing. Daimler, already concerned over declining profits in its Maybach division, fears the new S-Class will pirate sales away from struggling Maybach. The most profitable solution would be to close the storied luxury brand.

P. Diddy to Son: Happy Birthday, Here’s Your Maybach

Maybach 57

Rumors on the internet allege that P. Diddy presented his son with a brand new Maybach for his sixteenth birthday. The keys were handed over during a taping of MTV’s “Sweet Sixteen” reality series.

I had to buy my first car. With my own money, and nobody filmed it for posterity. Since P. Diddy’s son will probably wad the car in the near future anyway, look for a one owner, slightly used Maybach with a salvage title to appear on eBay by the end of the year.

Let’s hope P. Diddy included some seat time at a Skip Barber school for his son as well. Maybe I’m just jealous, but I’m thinking a 6,000 pound car that scoots to 60 in five seconds may be a bit much for a new driver to handle.

Maybach Zeppelin

Dead for more than 50 years, the legendary Maybach Zeppelin is making its official comeback this week as it debuts live at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. Underpinned by the present day Maybach 57 S and extended-wheelbase 62 S, the Maybach Zeppelin comes equipped with a 640-horsepower 6.0L V12 engine and a few “Zeppelin” engraved accoutrements designed to pay homage to the original Zeppelin of the 1930′s. Finished in Maybach’s traditional two-tone paint scheme, aside from the illuminated “Zeppelin” running boards and “Zeppelin” badging on the Double M hood ornament, the Maybach Zeppelin differs very little from current and previous generation Maybachs and still features an aesthetic design found only attractive by wealthy European businessmen and gangster rappers from Miami.
