Just in case you’re not up to speed on Lamborghini’s current lineup, here’s the two minute drill: there’s the Gallardo, available in six different variants, and then there’s the Aventador. Twin-Turbo Lamborghini Gallardo

One of the great parts about being an adult is that your parents don’t have the authority to tell you “NO” anymore. I mean sure they can still give advice, but in the end it’s your prerogative to make the right decisions. For instance, if I were 17 and I told my folks that I wanted to build a 1,250 hp car, I would have been shot down in an instant. However now, being in my late 30′s, I’m free to make all the irresponsible decisions I want. This is Robert Himler, the owner of a 1,250 hp Lamborghini Gallardo that was tuned by Underground Racing. It seems that Robert wanted to have a little fun, so he decided to take his Mom out for a quick spin and then film her reaction with a hidden camera. Even though the car itself is pretty insane, I think you’ll agree that his mother’s reaction to it is even better.

Lamborghini Aventador: Lamborghini Aventador Style

Posted in European Rides, Funny, General, Lamborghini, Rides, Top Gear, Videos by MrAngry | August 4th, 2011 | Leave a Reply |

The Lamborghini Aventador; it’s big, brash and comes at you with styling that’s like a right hook to the jaw. The interior is straight out of a stealth fighter and the noise it makes from its massive 6.5-liter V12 power plant is nothing short of sublime. 0-60 mph comes up in 2.9 seconds and, if you have enough road, it’ll top out at 217 mph. Not to shabby for a car made by a bunch of Italians who live on wine and cheese. Lamborghini’s, especially their V12 super cars have always been more of a street thug when it comes to driving. Their handling always came in second to top speed and styling, but thanks to some very stiff competition from the likes of Ferrari and Porsche, Lamborghini was forced to step up their game. There is however one inherent problem with this though. You see this is a Lamborghini, which means that regardless of its technology and power, there should always be that little bit of it that can turn into Dr. Jekyll at any moment. Sadly, it appears that the new Aventador has lost that personality trait.

Valentino Balboni

“Body by Lamborghini, High Fidelity By Alpine” – those were the words written on the poster of the red Lamborghini Countach that I had on my wall when I was a kid. I stared at that image day after day for years hoping that one day I’d have one of those iconic machines in my garage. It was a lofty goal for sure, but hell, if one doesn’t have aspirations then what’s the point of living right? I also had a poster of a 1971 Lamborghini Miura SV, a car, that in my opinion, is the most beautiful automobile ever produced. You see for me Lamborghini wasn’t just a car company, it was THE car company. Their body designs were impractically sexy, their power plants were wonderment’s of engineering and their exhaust notes… well, let’s just say that those were conjured up by the Gods above.

They Call Him Stumpy: The Luckiest Squirrel In The World

Posted in Lamborghini, Track Events, Videos by Kurt Ernst | July 3rd, 2011 | 1 Response |

Here’s rule number one for driving a car on a racetrack: if an animal is stupid enough to cross your path, don’t risk your car and your life at triple digit speeds by trying to avoid it. I’ve hit rabbits and rattlesnakes on racetracks, and things didn’t turn out as well for them as for the squirrel in the video below. His only injury appears to be a shortened tail, clipped by a Lamborghini LP670-4, although I have no doubt that the squirrel will need serious counseling for the foreseeable future. Given the possible outcome, I’d have to say that things worked out well for Stumpy; besides, I’m sure the old adage that “chicks dig scars” extends to the animal kingdom as well. Read More…

How Do You Get A Lambo Aventador Inside A Museum?

Posted in Cool Stuff, Lamborghini, Videos by Kurt Ernst | May 12th, 2011 | 2 Responses |

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to install a Lamborghini Aventador inside a museum in Rome. The building doesn’t have much of a loading dock, and even the doorways aren’t what you’d call double-wide. If you’re going to put a Lamborghini Aventador inside, you’re going to have to build it up one piece at a time. After you bring them in, one piece at a time. For the technicians from Lamborghini, this is just another day on the job, and they seem to be perfectly content spinning wrenches in a non-ergonomically friendly environment. On the plus side, this particular car is likely to be the most theft-proof Lambo in all of Rome. Watch the video below. Read More…

It Has Arrived: Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

When Lamborghini announced that there was a new replacement on the way for their aging super car the Murciélago, the automotive world stood up and took notice. At first we were taunted with little breadcrumb spy shots that did nothing but aggravate us, but as time went on, the new raging bull began to take shape. For instance when we found out it had a 690 hp V12 that made 509 lb-ft of torque, we got excited. Then we were told it did 0-60 mph in 2.9 second and had a top speed of 217 mph. Combine that with an unbelievable four-wheel drive system and looks that are drop dead gorgeous and your final product is nothing short of one of the greatest super cars the world has ever seen. The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is so amazing in fact that it has the ability to out run what can only be described as doomsday. Click through to see what I’m talking about.

Spy Photos: Do they really peak your interest?

BMW 1 Series M Coupe

Spy photos are an integral part of the automotive industry. Some come from legitimate sources, while others are simply released by the manufacturers to peak pique a little interest by the consumer. My question though is, do these little snippets of a fender here and a headlight there really do anything to peak your interest? Take for example the recent release of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, a car that BMW trickled down to us for the better part of 8 months. Every now and then we’d get another little spy photo and while the first one did in fact peak my interest, those that followed simply aggravated me to the point where I just waited for the full car to be revealed. Lamborghini also played the spy photo game with their new Murcielago replacement, the Aventador. I understand the “why” behind the spy photos, but as consumers I’m curious to know how you guys feel about them?

The Smoking Tire Flogs A VF Engineering Tuned Lambo

Posted in Cool Stuff, European Review, Lamborghini, Videos by Kurt Ernst | April 6th, 2011 | 1 Response |

When Mike and I road test cars, we drive a lot of bread-and-butter sedans and crossovers. Every once in a while we get something particularly interesting, like a Cadillac CTS-V, a Dodge Viper or a Shelby GT500; we don’t ever get tuners asking us to try their latest wares in exchange for some free press (hint: our answer would be “yes”). In that regard, Matt Farah is different from Mike and I, since he has the uncanny ability to get his hands on the tastiest of automotive treats. Take the latest episode of The Smoking Tire, for example: Matt drives the VF Engineering tuned Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-5 on one of the finest (and hence, secret) roads in California, It’s got 234 turns in just 26 miles of road, which is more turns than you’ll find in the entire state of Florida. The car is the video is pretty damn exceptional, too, packing an extra 200 horsepower above the base Gallardo’s 560. Who wouldn’t enjoy wringing out a 760 horsepower, AWD supercar in a setting like this? Read More…

Lamborghini Murcielago HOONAGE!

Lamborghini Burnout

It’s a well known fact that the majority of Lamborghini owners are more show than go. You see most owners like the idea of owning one, but rarely, if ever abuse them for fear that they may actually have to one day pony up some cash for repair bills. Every so often though an owner surfaces through the cracks and proves to the rest of the general public that these cars were actually built for hardcore speed as opposed to just sitting in the parking lot of a Starbucks. Obviously this gentlemen is vastly aware of the “look at me” factor since he pimped his car out with some hideous chrome wheels and that awful two-tone interior. I have to give him props though as he did manage to pull off one of the best burnouts I’ve seen, and that’s regardless of the make. Hopefully he’s got enough spare change left in those sweatpants pockets of his for new tires, because let’s face it, those skins ain’t cheap! Click through for the video.
