Volvo ReCharge
Volvos have always been a smart vehicle choice for those that are concerned with safety. The historically box-shaped vehicles are built like tanks and are known for racking up astronomically high mileage on the odometer. Now Volvo, along with everyone else, is looking to add a plug-in hybrid to its lineup.

Lord Humungous asks politely for gasoline
I like to think of myself as an amateur futurist. I take all the available information, filter it through my super intellect and come up with the most likely future outcomes. Lately, I’ve been pointing my brain at the current political and economic climate.

Oil, it’s the lifeblood of our society. It’s given us the freedom and wealth we have today. It’s given us automobiles and machinery and greased the wheels of the industrial revolution. It made old Jed a millionaire. But oil’s in trouble, the price is up and everyone thinks they understand it. But what if the price of oil wasn’t really up? What if it were just an illusion?

The Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE
Honda’s been in the news lately with their hydrogen FCX Clarity, but Mazda’s been pushing the hydrogen envelope as well, and with a rotary engine car. They were actually trying to create a workable hydrogen rotary engine all the way back in the early 1990s. And by 2003 they actually developed a concept, dual fuel RX-8 capable of burning both high pressure hydrogen and gasoline in it’s rotary engine.

The Honda FCX Clarity
The Toyota Prius finally has some competition in the ultra-green category. Honda has begun the consumer test run of it’s zero-emission hydrogen car, the FCX Clarity. About 200 select drivers will be able to lease the Clarity for $600 a month, but only in California. They’re limiting the cars to California because that state has the most developed infrastructure of hydrogen refueling stations. There will be more added in time, but as for now, only Cali residents like Jamie Lee Curtis and Hollywood producer Ron Yerxa are able to drive hydrogen.

In response to crushing fuel prices, consumers are obviously getting either a hell of a lot more resourceful or flat-out desperate. According to Shell, the newest breed of gas-station thieves come armed with Reynolds Wrap. Following a string of similar, more successful attempts along the West Coast, an Illinois resident tried his own hand at beating the system on Monday.
According to reports, a suspicious-looking man was spotted on the roof of a Tinley Park, Illinois Shell station at around 9:30pm. Apparently, the man had scaled the wall to access the roof in order to implement the newest gas-saving technique of wrapping aluminum foil around the satellite receiver.

According to recent reports, the Arctic Circle might be sitting on about 90 billion barrels of untapped oil reserves. That’s more than all three of the planet’s largest crude oil reserves – Kazakhstan, 39.8 billion barrels; Nigeria, 36.2 billion barrels; Mexico, 12.2 billion barrels – combined.
The survey, published today by the US Geological department, was compiled by a collaborative effort between geologists representing the governments of the U.S.,Canada, Norway, Denmark, and Greenland.
