The House Of Tuerck, the place where professional drifter, stunt guy and all around hoonigan Ryan Tuerck lives. Nestled in the New Hampshire hillside, Tuerck has managed to build his own little slice of drift car heaven complete with explosions, ramps and of course, a bulldozer. Check it out after the jump.

Slide Open 2012

It happens because someone does something astonishing. It happens because people take risks and chances. It happens because as automotive enthusiasts we’re constantly pushing the boundaries of common sense and rational thought. In the end though everything we do with an automobile we do for one reason and one reason only – we do it because it’s fun. Drifting is a sport that 30 years ago would’ve been laughed at. However today it’s more popular than ever. Cars slide around a track and blow smoke from their rear tires in some sort of horsepower induced ballet. At first it seemed ludicrous, but ludicrous doesn’t fill the stands at Drifting events, tire smoke does.

Keep Drifting Fun

There is no question that sliding sideways through a corner is one of the more enjoyable things you can do in an automobile. Sure it’s juvenile and serves no purpose, but in the end who really cares? “Keep Drifting Fun” by NOS energy drink is a film created to illustrate this exact point. What you are about to see is the trailer, but if you continue over to “facebook.com/KeepDriftingFun” you can check out the whole damn thing – enjoy!

Cars love winter in Latvia

Latvia Drift

It would be foolish of me to bitch about the weather out here in Northern California. However I’ve got to admit that seeing these cars drift around on a frozen lake does look awfully enticing. Watching this video takes me back to the days when we’d violate the local mall parking lot in my buddies 1979 Pontiac Bonneville. It was long, heavy and rear-wheel drive and would slide like no other car I’ve ever driven. In short, it was awesome. Sure these guys have about 25 years of technology on the old Bonne’, but that wouldn’t stop me from going up against them in a heartbeat.

Ken Block Defends His Hooning Crown At Goodwood

Posted in Cool Stuff, Drifting, Hoonage by Kurt Ernst | July 22nd, 2011 | Leave a Reply |

It is in Australia: just ask Lewis Hamilton.

The British understand order and precision; they don’t necessarily understand spinning donuts or throwing a car sideways in a cloud of tire smoke. That said, Lord March again invited Ken Block back to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, in order to defend last year’s well deserved hooning crown. It wasn’t all fun and games, since Block had to drive Lord March’s son Charlie up the hill in his Gymkhana 3 Fiesta, and I imagine that Block dialed back just a few notches with Charlie March in the car. How Vaughn Gittin, Jr. Gets Take Out

Posted in Drifting, Hoonage, Mustang, Videos by Kurt Ernst | May 25th, 2011 | 2 Responses |

Formula Drift drivers do things a little bit differently than the rest of us, or so this video would have you believe. Sure, it’s a shameless marketing plug for Monster energy drinks and the Carl’s Junior fast food chain, but it does get me thinking how much fun it would be to roast a set of rear tires at a drive through window. The video is almost believable (although neither Gittin nor his posse should quit their day jobs for an acting gig) until JR runs down the Carl’s Junior mascot. If that actually happened, JR would be trying to figure out how many RTR Mustangs he needs to sell to afford a good attorney. See for yourself in the video below. Read More…

Red Bull Peachtree Drift Battle

If there is an action sport out there then you can bet that Red Bull has their name attached to it. From high flying air races to downhill mountain biking, the company has solidified the image of its high-octane energy drink with all things that require speed and adrenaline. Therefore it should come as no surprise that when Red Bull wants to make something happen, that they usually get their way. Take for instance the following video of the Red Bull Peachtree Drift Battle that was recently held down in Atlanta, GA. The drift battle featured Rhys Millen and Ryan Tuerck dueling it out on the public streets of one of the most beautiful cities in the South. After watching this I’m thinking that Red Bull should contact Mayor Mike Bloomberg about having a drift battle here in the Big Apple. I mean lets face it, the bike route through Central Park would be flippin’ perfect!

Moscow Drift: Hoonage Spoken Here

Posted in Drifting, Hoonage, Videos by Kurt Ernst | March 11th, 2011 | Leave a Reply |

There may be a language barrier between the U.S. and Russia, but “sideways with smoking tires” is a universal language. The drifting in this video was done by Evgeniy Satyukov and Georgiy Stepanyan, who took first and second place in the 2010 Russian Drift Series, respectively. The film was made on a mix of tracks and city streets, and I probably don’t need to remind you that going full hoon in Moscow isn’t a good idea for foreign nationals. In fact, it’s not even a good idea for Russian nationals, unless you know who to tip generously for looking the other way. Video below. Read More…

The Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi is one of the world’s best motorsport venues, and home to competition ranging from endurance racing through Formula 1. You can now add Formula Drift to that list, since the U.S. based series ran an exhibition event there on February 25. The win went to 2010’s Formula Drift Rookie of the Year, Frederic Aasbo, driving a Toyota Supra. Aasbo will also take the seat at Papadakis Racing soon to be vacted by Tanner Foust, who has shifted his focus to the Top Gear America TV series. Video below. Read More…
