The basic formula for a Japanese haiku is simple: it’s composed of three lines, the first having five syllables, the second having seven and the third having five again. You don’t get many words, but if you choose them carefully they say a lot.

Your mortgage (or your rent) is late, the job you hate is on thin ice and your 15 year old beater car is on it’s last legs. There are no jobs, the economy is in shambles, our cars are trying to kill us and everything you eat, drink or breathe contains something to ensure you die a slow, horrible death. We’re about a year away from killing each other in the streets for food, and no matter how many guns or how much ammo you own, it still isn’t enough.

I always loved the Sunday paper, because all the comics were extra long, and in color! But I always hated the comics, because there was only one Dilbert, and one Garfield, and one Non-Sequitur per day. I was ecstatic when somebody gave me a whole book of Calvin and Hobbes comics, a book I cherish to this day.

The long and short of it is, RideLusters, that when something good comes along, people like us demand more of it–a lot more of it. And really, we’re adults now (most of us, anyway) and we’re way too busy to spend our days reading an entire comic strip. So God bless the inventor of the Demotivational Press. Like Lays potato chips, we bet you can’t eat just one.

RideLust Celebrates Back-To-School Month, All Aboard The Magic Cool Bus

September is back to school month, and we here at RideLust began to reminisce the other day about our years in school and the joyful time spent riding in the coveted back of the bus. With the benefit of about 20 ft of seats and 40 noisy kids between you and the bus driver, riders in the back of the bus were enshrouded in an invisibility cloak of sorts. That, coupled with the average driver’s decidedly “hands off” approach to child safety, generally meant that your primary concern was if you were caught smoking unfiltered menthols, that you had enough to share with everyone.

We’ve heard that buses come with cameras now, and some of the brand new ones are even equipped with newfangled contraptions like seat belts and shock absorbers. The fun and danger of riding in a school bus is slowly being phased out, and the bus ride to school is now becoming a boring and monotonous routine for most kids these days. There isn’t much that we here at RideLust can do about that, but we can use it as a guise under which to spend the afternoon searching for pictures of bagged out school buses. So to all the disgruntled, disenfranchised youth out there, enjoy the fruits of our labor and remember: the world doesn’t understand you and your parents hate you.
