JetLev Flyer: Now Your Jet Pack Can Drown You, Too!

I’m not much of a water sports kind of guy. I swim, but solely as an alternative to drowning. If I was on the Titanic, I’d have been one of the guys below deck yelling for more duct tape to patch the hole. People say that riding a motorcycle or driving a car on a racetrack is dangerous; that may be, but no one’s ever been eaten by a shark on a motorcycle. No one’s ever gotten fatal jellyfish stings in three layers of Nomex, behind the wheel of a race car. Video after the jump.

12 Car Innovations We Can’t Wait To See

Some may remember that back in the 1980s power windows were regarded as a luxury item in an automobile. Others may remember that in those very years we were imagining the automobile of the early 2000s as something spectacular and Star Trek like. It turns out that the automobile has evolved and matured into a rather safer, more comfortable and more reliable technology. But what will it be like in the near future? Laser guided navigation, talking cars, truly automated driving, holograms and in-vehicle broadband internet are just a few of the answers to that question.

Car Porn: Factory Five Racing ’33 Hot Rod

33 Hot Rod

Hardtop, no fenders. Personally, I like the Wehrmacht helmet look of the roof.

I’m pretty much a take-’em-or-leave-’em guy when it comes to cars built before the sixties. Sure, I appreciate the styling and craftsmanship, I just wouldn’t want to own one. Every rule has it’s exception, and mine is the ’32 or ’33 Ford Coupe.

Toyota Performance Division In Development

Better believe it, this post is about Toyota, but its not about their sticky gas pedals. Toyota Motor Company is planning a new performance line under the name of “Toyota G Sports.” Earlier this month Toyota showed off three new models from their new performance line, some more impresive than the others. The two less impressive cars, a lovely Prius with a bodykit, and a high powered Camry. Not exactly what we call high performance. However, the last car, an allegedly turbocharged Toyota FT-86, fitted with an aero kit, suspension and brake modifications made us do a double-take. Toyota’s performance division will focus on the high-end components made specifically for the street, and will most likely be sold as a complete model, but seperate componenets may be available as well. It is still unknown if these cars will make it to the United States, but if it does, expect Toyota, or maybe Scion, to offer similar packages.

SoundRacer V8

So you’re stuck with a Civic, but you pine for a 454 V-8. Well, now you can have both. Sorta. The SoundRacer V8 is a gizmo that pumps the glorious sounds of a V-8 through your car stereo. Just plug it into the cigarette lighter (or auxiliary power port) in your car and it’ll monitor your car’s revs and transmit the roar of a V-8 to your stereo via an FM signal. It does a pretty good job, too. Check out this video from Gizmag.

The SoundRacer V8 is currently available at LatestBuy.

T-Rex: Three Wheeled Sports Car or Motorcycle

This three-wheel, two seat “motorcycle” is created by the Canadian auto/bike manufacturer Campagna Corporation in Quebec. Although the T-Rex is classified as a motorcycle, with the an altered seating position and the angle of the steering wheel, along with the suspension, makes it feel and drive more like a sportscar.  The interior has two seats with three point retractable seatbelts and is protected with a tubular steel roll cage for maximum safety and protection. With a 1.4 L, four cylinder engine, the T-Rex can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 157 mph. The amazing acceleration is due to the streetbike technology available today that Campagna  uses to their advantage. This motorcycle has been in production since the mid 1990’s however they’ve just recently gained recognition and popularity due to some television shows such as MTV’s Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, where it is possible to see a white T-Rex in use. The three wheeled monster is available at the suggested retail price of $43,190 and can be purchased directly from http://www.campagnamotors.com/. For the average person who wants the thrill of driving a motorcycle but is looking for a little more safety and security, the Campagna T-Rex is waiting for you.

A real, working engine built from Legos.

According to the guy who built it, this is a:

Real working (electronic) V8 engine made from Lego Technic. This is not a Lego set, but I completely designed and build it myself. There is about 300 hours of work in this model.
