Currently a running back for the New York Jets, Thomas Jones keeps a colorful lineup of whips in his garage including a candy apple red Rolls Royce Phantom, a violently orange Ferrari 360 Spider, and a surprisingly subdued cool-blue Range Rover. Media shy both by nature and on principle, a glimpse into Jones’ private life is a rare treat indeed as Jones is one of those increasingly rare NFL players with a healthy dose of humility. Although it seems painfully cliched to further explain that Jones’ grew up in a small coal mining town to hard-working parents who always stressed the value of education - it’s a fact worth mentioning regardless.
A phenomenal athlete with an unpretentious character the likes of which I haven’t seen Barry Sanders, I like Thomas Jones so much, I’m not even going to give him a hard time for that obscenely-hued Phantom.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward claims ownership of some pretty impressive whips - thanks in part to is status as the Super Bowl XL MVP. Pictured above relaxing in front of his black Cadillac Escalade, Hines notes the chromed-out SUV was a part of the MVP package - replete with MVP badging on on the hubcaps and interior speaker casings. Hines’ two other rides, a Range Rover DUB Edition and black Bentley Continental GT, are his personal babies he purchased himself. “I’m a car a fanatic,” Hines admitted, “[I have been] ever since I was a child. I even got my son a little Dub truck. It’s in all males I guess.” Careful to set himself apart from other wealthy scourges of humanity such as the distinguished Terrell Owens, Hines went on to explain that his high-end rides aren’t intended to be superfulous status symbols, but rather personal rewards for years of hard work. “I like them,” Hines explains, “I’m not doing it to be flashy. I get enjoyment out of it. Each and every day that I wake up, I go out and drive in something nice. Who ever would have thought that a kid from Forest Park, Georgia, would have a Bentley? It’s a blessing for me. With all the hard work that I put into my profession, that’s my reward; that’s my gift to myself.”
As reported yesterday, a recent injury sustained by Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo to the pinkie on his throwing hand will keep him benched for at least four weeks, which leaves him with plenty of time to prance around with girlfriend Jessica Simpson. As if on cue: recently, Romo and Simpson have been spotted cavorting about town in Romo’s black Range Rover, while Cowboys fans watch from a distance, weeping quietly over the loss of another great player felled to the evil power of blondes. While the vacancy does open up a spotlight for veteran QB and personal favorite of mine, Brad Johnson, there is a small part of my heart that is still holding out for Romo to ditch Miss. Simpson.
But I digress….Hit the jump for more pics of Romo and his murdered out career Range Rover.
Yes, that hydro you just hit might have been laced with something, but no, you’re not hallucinating. Dubbed “The MINI Aldridge Special”, The MINI Cooper pictured above is part of legendary artist Alan Aldridge new exhibit, The Man With Kaleidoscope Eyes, currently on display in London’s Design Museum.
Aldridge, who is most famous for his work as an album cover artist for the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Who, and Mr. Subtly himself, Elton John, created the MINI Aldridge Special in part to celebrate the MINI’s 50th birthday in 2009. Described as a “retrospective display” of Aldridge’s past work, the MINI Aldridge Special is a recreation of a similar MINI piece by Aldridge, featured on the cover of Sunday Times Magazine in 1965.

Spotted by a rabid fan (who I assure you bears no familial relation to me at all) outside of the DFW Airport Marriott, veteran quarterback Brad “Bull” Johnson was photographed exiting the plush interior of a pristine white Infiniti QX56. Starting this season as a back-up, Johnson and his ride suddenly became relevant today when it was announced a broken pinkie would keep starter Tony Romo riding the pine for four weeks. While obviously disappointing to Romo-sexuals, the news of Johnson’s takeover is music to the ears of anyone who scooped him up for his (or *cough* her) fantasy football roster as a free agent worthy of taking a gamble on.
Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has had a miraculous escape in a high-speed car crash. There’s not much info on the crash just yet, but apparently it wasn’t nearly as bad as Richard Hammond’s 315 mph rocket car crash back in 2006.
It was a high speed, head on collision during filming for the show, but Clarkson suffered only minor injuries to his legs, hand, and back. He described it as his first serious road traffic accident in 31 years.
Host of Top Gear U.S., professional drifter Tanner Foust claimed first place victory in his 350Z at the Formula Drift series this weekend at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale. Beating out fellow competitors Sam Hubinette (Dodge Viper) and Rhys Millen (Pontiac Soltice), Foust’s claim to the Final Fight victory in Round 8 surprised even him. “We started 2008 with a 2-year old car and with the help of Rockstar we made it strong enough to keep up with the competition,” explained Foust. “Honestly I can hardly believe that I am part of Formula DRIFT history and it is an amazing honor.”
In addition to earning the distinction as lord of Irwindale’s “House of Drift”, Foust has also earned himself the right to compete in The Red Bull Drifting World Championships. Scheduled to take place in Port of Long Beach November 15-16, Foust will compete with other world renowned drifters for the biggest prize purse in drifting history.
Former running back for the Cincinnati Bengals, traded this season to the Detroit Lions, Rudi Johnson has been featured in lifestyle mags everywhere sporting an impressive collection of luxury rides. Pictured above in the driveway of his home, surrounded by his babies, Johnson’s garage plays home to a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover, a 2004 Mercedes-Benz CL 55 AMG, a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, and a 2006 Bentley Arnage.
A little excessive for a guy who sat out last season on injured reserve, Johnson admits his collection is a throwback to the days when his family was too poor to afford anything but public transportation. Personally, he could own a Bugatti Veyron fueled on the tears of children for all I care, I’m more concerned with his recent lackluster performance failing to live up to the hype created by his three consecutive 1200yd seasons. I’ll spare you my fantasy football rant.
Between Rambo and Rocky, Sly must make a killing [groan], because photos and video footage have cropped up recently of the action movie buff behind the wheel of a VW Phaeton, a Rolls Royce Phantom, and a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.
Initially, I was heavily skeptical of the Phaeton sighting, but once you get a load of those lips and hear his gruff request for “no video”, there’s no denying it’s him. As for the Rolls sighting, the picture clearly captures Stallone’s front profile, no doubt that’s definitely the champ getting behind the wheel. The Ferrari, eh, I’m not so sure - the shot is so vague it could be Jose Conseco for all I know. Hit the jump to see for yourself
Supposedly, Patrick McGoohan picked the Lotus Seven because it had a more rebellious quality about it that fit the premise of The Prisoner. If McGoohan had chosen the original Lotus Elan he had planned, or some other car for the title sequence, there might not be over 160 companies offering replicas and Seven-type cars over the years. Who knows, we might not even have the Ariel Atom, which is clearly Lotus-inspired. He put the Seven on the map.
The Lotus Seven was an interesting car. It had fantastic low end acceleration for the time, since it was so light (a bit over 1100 pounds), but only had a top speed of around 90 mph. As time went on, the weight and engine size increased, culminating in the Super Seven which had a 1.7 liter engine.
