Sometimes with cars and motorcycles getting back to basics is the best thing you can do. Take Triumphs new Scrambler 900 for example. A no frills motorcycle that gives the rider everything they need, and nothing they don’t. With 58 hp and 50 lb-ft of torque, the 900 has plenty of power to get you up and rolling, while at the same time, providing one with a bike that’s one of the nicest nostalgia rides we’ve come across in quite some time. Host Jamie Robinson gives us a little insight into just what makes this new Scrambler so special.

Sport-bikes, choppers, off-road enduros and customs. All genres of the motorcycle hobby that appeal to different buying segments. As riders we all look for different attributes in a bike that conform to the way we ride, it’s our nature. Jared Johnson of Holiday Customs of Portland, Oregon sees motorcycles as simplistic machines that are meant to provide a mix of pleasure, visceral enjoyment and at times, a little free thought. Check out his one man operation after the jump.

Nick Eterovic is a car designer who loves his job. However as a designer you’ve got to have something on the side that gets your creative juices flowing and stimulates the old noggin on a daily basis. For Eterovic, it’s his love of motorcycles and more importantly, how he can craft them without having to deal with a committee. Much Much Go is a video that’s been done a thousand times. It features custom bikes, words of wisdom and of course, great production quality which is why, at days end, we hope to see a thousand more videos just like it.

It’s one thing to be riding on a motorcycle and to get caught in dodgy weather, but riding through it on purpose? That’s another story entirely. On this, RideApart’s season II finale, two-wheeled superhero Jamie Robinson climbs aboard a KTM 990 Adventure and heads for the back hills of Colorado where he faces ice, snow and or course, the occasional dirt trail. He also proves once and for all that motorcycling is not so much about the bike that you ride, but about the adventure that it takes you on.

There’s no question that riding a motorcycle can be one of the most rewarding experiences of ones life. However, if not done properly it can also be one of the most tragic. As someone who’s been riding for the better part of 20 years I can tell you from experience that learning proper technique is essential for your safety and the safety of others. This week on RideApart on DRIVE, Jamie Robinson takes some green riders to the racetrack and helps them not only get better acclimated to their rides, but shows them the in’s and out’s of bike control in a nice controlled setting. Check it out after the jump.

Reviewing cars and motorcycles for living is a dream job and anyone who tells you differently is lying. For the most part things go off without a hitch, however there are times when shit goes south and when that happens all bets are off. The following motorcycle reviewer found this out first hand when the saddle bag on his Yamaha FJR 1300 tester caught a pole and thus sent him ass-over-end off a pier. To quote the great rock band Dire Straits, “Sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug”. Click through and check it out.
