This is Jeb

The Bullrun Rally 2010 started yesterday morning from Pier 54 in New York City. I headed down there to see what was up and in the process ran into a few old friends. More importantly though was the vast variety of cars that filled up the parking lot. Everything from super exotics to muscle cars filled the lot, hell, Ice-T was even there with Coco. This years rally is taking the Bullrunners from New York City to Las Vegas, NV where drivers will cover 3500 miles. They’ll be trying to dodge the police, breakdowns and all manner of rush hour traffic in the quest for the Navigators Trophy. We’ll keep you posted this week as we learn more. For right now though I figured I’d just post up some of the Bullrun iron that littered the parking lot.

19 Questions for Bullrun Founder and Creator, Andrew Duncan.

Andrew Duncan Bullrun Times Square

Back in 2006 I had the opportunity to be part of a new reality show called Bullrun, which was based on the cross-country rally of the same name. The reality show pitted 12 teams in a 4000-mile adventure where they competed in multiple automotive challenges while driving their own automobiles. The show just recently finished up its third season on Speed TV and over the last 4 years has gained quite a fan base and following. Where the actual rally is a true high-end luxury vacation, the TV show is nothing but down and dirty competition that pushes contestants and automobiles to their limits. I recently had a chance to throw some questions at Bullrun founder and creator Andrew Duncan to pick his brain about not only the Bullrun Rally but the television show as well.

Bulllrun Season 3, Behind the Scenes: Episode 8

Here we have Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire in conjunction with The Brothers Wu pulling out some more trickery for the remaining teams on the Bullrun Reality Show on Speed TV. Dubbed “The Bill Goldberg Special”, the goal is to place multiple crickets in the cars interiors in the hopes that in the evening they will come alive. Where they got the crickets I have no idea, but I can say with the utmost authority that most of the teams are sure to be pissed off. We are then treated to a double-dose in the way of stunt Dude Matt Kutcher and more Matt Farah as they show us the in’s and out’s of the challenge: BLOCKADE.

Bullrun Season 3, Episode 8

First off I must say congratulations to the four remaining teams. I know it’s been a long run, but the end is near and I am sure that by this time during the filming you could all taste it. Last weeks challenge unfortunately bid farewell to Team Challenger. Those guys drove hard, but in they end they just didn’t have what it took to stay in the game. Episode 8 saw Team Lambo regaining their top trickery status back from Team NSX from the week prior. The Brothers Wu are no fools and know how to read the competition, thus they decided to go with what they thought was the weakest link in their greatest competitors armor – this was little Julia from Team Hemi Cuda.

Bulllrun Season 3 Behind the Scenes: Episode 7

I gave you guys a full review of Bulllrun Season 3, Episode 7 yesterday and found it only fitting that I post a little behind-the-scenes footage this afternoon. You’re watching stunt coordinator Matt Kutcher and Smoking Tire host, Matt Farah running through the Kidnap challenge course that the contestants ran on Thursday evening. When watching the show what you don’t see is the amount of preparation that goes on before hand to make sure these stunts go according to planned. Take a look at the background while watching the video and notice how many people are actually involved in pulling this off properly. The scope and sheer size of the production is actually quite amazing.

Bullrun

Bullrun is back from its little hiatus so fans around the U.S. can now relax and get back to rooting for their favorite teams. We’re now halfway home and 6 teams remain to battle it out for the $200,000. Any alliances that are left are now fragile at best and the teams are now all out for blood. Some short term friendships will be formed but only out of sheer necessity.

Bullrun Episode 6: Behind the Scenes.

Yesterday I brought you guys a full review of Bullrun Season 3: Episode 6. This episode featured the most complex challenge to date, as well as the first one to be held on real asphalt. Here we have a candid look at how everything was put together with the shows stunt coordinator: Matt Kutcher, Andy Duncan: the shows creator and founder of the Bullrun Rally and Matt Farah: host of TheSmokingTire.com. Not only did this challenge lead to the demise of Team Lexus, but it was the first one where we actually got to see Team NSX haul some ass. The video is pretty cool so check it out and enjoy.

Bullrun

We are now at the halfway point of Bullrun Season 3. The proverbial herd is starting to thin out and teams are finally starting to realize that they must a adopt a do or die attitude if they want to stay in the game. Last week we saw the unfortunate demise of Team Mustang which meant only 6 teams remained to battle for the Bullrun trophy. For both the teams and the viewers this is a pivotal time in the season. Viewers of the show have now had plenty of time to get to know, and decide on who their favorite teams are. We’ve seen how they deal with navigation, challenges and have been granted some insight as to what their strategies are. We’ve also gotten to know them on a somewhat personal level by seeing them interact with each other throughout each leg of the event. The teams on the show are at the same point, but at a much different level. They’ve sized up the opposing teams strengths and weaknesses and know now who their biggest rivals are. Now it all comes down to strategy.

Bullrun Season 3 is still motoring right along. As of now 5 teams have been eliminated and tensions are starting to grow. I remember that by this time in Season 1 that those of us who were left started to get serious. We trusted no one and had that eerie feeling that any one of the remaining teams would stick a knife in our back at any moment. Remember that the teams have 200,000 reasons to make sure that you don’t win.

Last week we saw the demise of Team Mini, which in all honesty was ok. They seemed like good people but didn’t really add much to the show. This week we’re seeing attitudes rise and teams getting anxious. Episode 5 began with the teams heading to a small town in Nevada. I think it was called Loony but I could be wrong. The first half of the episode was pretty uneventful as we saw some of the teams up to their usual antics. Chris from Team Hummer was shod in a little Devil hat and was more concerned with picking up gas station chicks then getting to the check point first.

Bullrun Episode 4

I know I’m late with this review but I was a busy man the last few days so just deal with it. Episode 4 of Bullrun starts out with the Brothers Wu getting screwed by another competitor. Someone actually had the balls (or lack there of for that matter) to actually call the cops on the Wu’s, because the Wu’s are better at playing the game then the rest of the cast. In my opinion, whomever called the cops is a f*ckin’ coward. How about instead of taking the pussy way out you just step up to the plate and learn how to better play the game. This had nothing to do with having a better ride, out thinking the other teams or being a better driver – it was just a dick move, plain and simple.
