These are some the greatest entertainers from the 1960′s, ’70s and ’80s and how they were all coaxed into making this film is way beyond me. This is The Cannonball Run, and if you consider yourself a car guy and haven’t watched this movie, well, turn in your membership card because all hope is lost. Also, if you’re young, and by that I mean under 30, do yourself a favor and check it out. It’s worth it, I promise.

One of the most successful franchises in movie history, the Fast & Furious has not only collected millions upon millions in revenue, but has managed to stay current for the last 12-years thanks in part to a great cast, and even better cars. Between 2001 and 2002 BMW produced a series of short films to be aired only on the internet. They featured some of the film industries greatest directors and some of its best talent. “STAR” showcases the then new, BMW E39 M5 in what is perhaps its best starring role to date. This is a car that some consider to be the last true M5. Equipped with a naturally aspirated V8 that pumped out 400 hp through a 6-speed manual transmission, the E39 M5 was not only one of the best muscle-sedans ever produced, but a true drivers car. Clive Owen and Madonna star in the video as well, but can’t hold a candle to what may be one of the best cars BMW ever produced.

You take some of the best cars in the world, add in a few great hotels and parties and then wrap it all together in a 3,000 mile road trip that’s full of fun and debauchery. Admit it, you can’t get enough of The Fast and the Furious movies. Sure they’re filled with loads of vehicular nonsense, but quite honestly, who cares. The cars are awesome, the chicks are hot and the action is nonstop from start to finish. In the upcoming Fast & Furious 6, Toretto and crew are headed over seas for some more smash and grabs. This time however Vin Diesel is piloting an odd looking version of a 1969 Dodge Daytona as opposed to his beloved 1970 Charger. Will it be good – who knows? When it comes to beards, bad-ass rides and babes, ZZ Top has had the market cornered for over 30 years. Back in 1983 front man Billy Gibbons had a wicked 1933 Ford Coupe built that was known by fans as the, “Eliminator”. It was red with alloy wheels and the “ZZ” graphics on the side and for hot-rodders around the world, this WAS the car to own. Fast forward to 2012, a mere 29 years after the original “Eliminator’ was built and ZZ Top’s new single, I Gotsta Get Paid. Granted the car is not there, but it’s essence lives on right to the very end.
