Remote Control Cars

It’s a well known fact that many automobile enthusiasts first taste of speed was done through the guise of a remote control car. Over the years I’ve had just about every variety of gas and electric cars you can think of. And even now, at four decades old, I find they’re still a helluva lot of fun. As kids, these RC cars taught us about counter steering, throttle control and overall suspension behavior. Things that many adult enthusiasts fail to ever learn about. In short, not only are these little machines fun, but they have the ability to educate the crap out of all those little petrol-heads who one day want to get behind the wheel of a real car.

BJ Baldwin

I think we’ve just found the man (and the video) that dethrones Ken Block. This is B.J. Baldwin, trophy truck pilot and stuntman extraordinaire. His vehicle of choice, the Monster Energy 850-horsepower trophy truck that comes equipped with 34-inches of suspension travel and a 150 mph top end. Combine that with a hot chick driving a Nissan GT-R, a helicopter and a few slow-motion cameras and you’ve just developed the recipe for internet video stardom!

Jalopy Run

Putting the screws to an old hot-rod or muscle car is one of the best feelings on the planet. They rattle, shake and throw you around like nothing else, and at days end, make you feel like you’re actually driving something mechanical. There are no anti-lock brakes, airbags or even independent suspension systems. Just a big engine, a solid-live axle in the rear and the perma-grin that’s plastered on your face as soon as you hit the gas.

Ugly Jeep

Every automobile enthusiast out there has that one car or truck that they look upon as their holy grail. It’s the vehicle that lit the spark under their bottom and got them revved up about anything with an engine. For Fred Williams, host of Dirt Everyday on MotorTrend’s Youtube channel, that vehicle happened to be a beat up 1951 Jeep CJ3a that he saw in a magazine way back in 1989. It was dirty and rough around the edges, but it worked flawlessly and acted as the off-road catalyst for Fred. Check it out after the jump.

Most parents know that children are attracted to dirt like fish are to water. They play in it, throw it at their friends and a days end, use it as a creative outlet. Playmobile toys perform in much the same fashion, which is why we were so thrilled that two of our childhood favorites came together in one amazing video.

Glamis 2012

One of the things I notice when I moved out to the West Coast was the vast number of off-road vehicles that roamed the streets. Everything from high-riders and boggers, to pre-runners and trophy trucks can be seen here from time to time. Down in Southern California though it’s an entirely different story as these rigs are literally everywhere, but then again so are the dunes for which they run upon. The Glamis Dunes of Glamis, CA are one of the more popular places to run free and because of this it’s no secret that video cameras are abound out there. The following video consists of almost 15 minutes of high-flying footage that is sure to put a smile on your face, so make sure to click through and enjoy.

King Of The Hammers

One of the first things I noticed when I moved out to California was the plethora of off-road trucks that roam the streets. Everything from trophy trucks and rock crawlers, to all manner of jacked-up SUV’s can be seen out here. The main reason is that here on the west coast off-roading is big business, and with big business comes big events. King of the Hammers is one such event that’s held down in Johnson Valley, CA and it’s an event that incorporates everything from high-speed desert running to rock crawling. This event is not for the faint of heart, as both man and machine get pounded within an inch of their lives. However if you’ve got a kick-ass off-road vehicle and balls the size of coconuts then the King of the Hammers may be for you.
