If you were born after 1985 then the odds of you ever seeing a real life carburetor are probably pretty slim. I mean let’s face it, even though fuel-injection was available in the late 60′s it wasn’t really implemented until the mid-1980′s. For those of you out there however who feel the need to know how this little piece of old school technology actually works, fear not, because this video explains everything you need to know about your friend and mine, the carburetor.

When I was 18 a buddy of mine came over to my parents house driving his father’s Morgan Plus 8. It packed an old Buick V8 engine, was what felt like 3-inches off the ground and had a frame that was made of wood. In short, it was one of the most terrifying things I’d ever ridden in up until that point. Jay Leno recently had a buddy stop by his garage with a highly modified Morgan Plus 8 that was set up for the road course. It was loud, low and by today’s standards, like driving an ox cart. It does however look like one helluva lot of fun, so make sure to check it out after the jump.

Be honest. Since the advent of Forza Motorsports, you just haven’t been as excited about anything that has to do with the Gran Turismo series – I know I haven’t. Sony however is now getting ready to release Gran Turismo 6, and by the looks of the trailer, it seems to be pretty damn good. I’m just wondering how much farther they’ll be able to push the existing PS3 platform without sacrificing game play or graphics. Unfortunately we’re going to have to wait awhile to find out because Sony is saying we’re not going to see GT6 until around the time that Santa comes a calling. Check out the trailer after the jump.

It must be nice being Tom Cruise, as not only are you a world famous movie star, but you’re granted access to some of the greatest toys the planet has to offer. For instance, showing up to Willow Springs Raceway in a Red Bull helicopter (Tom is flying of course) and then having the chance to jump into a million dollar Formula 1 car for some quick laps. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not jealous (yes I am) but I’ve think I’ve chosen to follow the wrong line of work.

A few weeks ago I was down at Cars & Coffee in Los Angeles, CA. This is a gathering that occurs every weekend and brings with it some of the greatest cars ever produced. Aside from such things as the odd new McLaren, Ferrari 458s and old muscle cars, one car in particular really stood out. It was a 1988 Lamborghini Countach like the one you are viewing here. This is a car that has the capacity to basically stop people in their tracks. It’s wedge shape is iconic and even though the car is now 25 years old, it’s stood the test of time incredibly well. This particular car went through a major service in 2005 totaling a whopping $40,908 and according to the seller, is ready to go. It’s hokey, ridiculous and so far fetched it isn’t even funny. However Hot Wheels is back, and with their reemergence they bring one of the most entertaining little automotive movies of recent times. Four teams; Red, Yellow, Green & Blue compete for the title of “World’s Best Driver”. Some will be eliminated, others will succeed. These are some the greatest entertainers from the 1960′s, ’70s and ’80s and how they were all coaxed into making this film is way beyond me. This is The Cannonball Run, and if you consider yourself a car guy and haven’t watched this movie, well, turn in your membership card because all hope is lost. Also, if you’re young, and by that I mean under 30, do yourself a favor and check it out. It’s worth it, I promise.

It’s as much a part of the Fast and Furious franchise as any of the main characters, and has been in all but 2 of the 6 installments. It’s Dom’s 1970 Dodge Charger, and although it gets destroyed during each go-round, movie magic has proven that this old Dodge has more lives then any cat you’ve ever come to know and love. For the Fast and Furious 6, the Charger is once again, back. However this time it’s been reincarnated as a highly modified 1969 Dodge Daytona, the pinnacle of the Chargers evolution. Logic dictates that using a Daytona was the next step for the Charger, however now my curiosity is really peaked as I’m wondering what’s going to show up in F&F 7…
