2014 Corvette Stingray

The 2014 Corvette Stingray is finally here along with a laundry list of answered questions. One of the most anticipated cars in recent years, the new ‘Vette is a machine that was not only meant to be a better Corvette, but a world beating sports car. The design, love it or hate it, is more compelling than the outgoing C6. It’s lines are more finely sculpted with an air of finesse that translates well over the cars entire body. The cars interior (the Achilles heal of the C6) has been re-imagined from the ground up, as was the Vette’s new LT1 engine and suspension system. Car and Driver Contributing Editor Csaba Csere, recently asked a host of questions to key people in the Corvette’s development, including Kirk Bennion (Exterior Design Manager), Tadge Jeuchter (Chief Engineer) and Harlan Charles (Product Manager). The video is long, but so worth the watch if you are even remotely interested in the new 2014 Corvette Stingray.

    im not a fan of the new ‘vette. first the looks with that finely sculpted nose why did they give it a brick as a rear end to me it looks like a Ferrari f12 with a GT-R rear end i love the GT-R but its not a looker. and i also feel theyve lost some of that rude boy attitude it had and i liked that i liked that the big Earl from kentucky gave Guiseppe from maranello and Frits from stutgart a run for their money.

    not to start a hate thing but i almost did a spit take when he talked about “compact engine” and glossed over efficiency in power/weight and also i highly doubt the engine is smaller than the Evo 10′s 2 litre straight 4 (fq400 produces 410 Bhp) or the ariel atom 500 or that its a third the size of the agera engine. (also i know the koenigsegg and ariel atom are more expensive but he said he didnt know of any).

      you seem to be clueless about engines and what he was talking about….it has highest hp per liter for v8 engine of similar size.

      I do agree that rear does not mach front design, they tried to go sexy on the front and aggressive in the rear.
      But car looks better then c6 from all angles.

    The new vette is ugly. It doesn’t have the clean lines or the artistry that the C-6 had, nor the va-va voom curviness of previous generations. It is now a hybrid of a Cadillac, a Lotus, Japanese rice rocket and with the ass of a Camaro.

    Yes, it will turn heads, but in a bad way…

    However, after watching this video I am anxious to drive it to see if the power and the cornering performance match. If it does, I could learn to love the look.

    I have had 6 Corvettes. The last was a 2007 Z06. I have had a 2008 Carrera S, a 2010 Carrera S and a 2012 Carrera S since my Corvette days. There is simply no comparison. Corvette was fun when I was simple minded and just didn’t know the difference. Today, anyone that has driven a Porsche, would simply not buy a Corvette again. Goodbye, the best of luck with the new car.
