Hennessey Escalade

Not long ago we posted a video of a Hennessey built Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon running up against a 2011 Nissan GT-R. The GT-R was stock with 485 hp, but the Cadillac was upgraded from 556 hp to 656 hp by Hennessey and it was running drag radials. The Cadillac beat the GT-R by 1/10th of a second running a 11.7 sec quarter mile to the Nissan’s 11.8. This is all well and good IF you keep in mind that the CTS-V has been highly modified. Now it seems that Hennessey is at it again, but this time they’re using a 1,000 hp twin-turbo Escalade. According to them a run to 60 mph took the big Cadillac 3.4 seconds, whereas the GT-R took 3.5. This grandstanding is all well and good on Hennessey’s part, but in the end it only proves that with enough money you can make anything go fast. Besides, eventually that 6,000 lb Escalade is going to have to turn, and when that happens, all bets are off. Click through for the video.

    that doesnt make any sense…
spend half on modding the gtr and see what happens…

What is it with Hennessey and the GT-R hating? Looks to me like the difference in that street race was the difference in the hole shot – the guy in the GT-R (not surprisingly given who was doing the video) was smoked off the line.

Let’s film a race between a stock Suzuki SX4 and a Hennessey Viper – wonder who wins that one?

I’d like to see the caddidlyac take on a stock veyron. seriously though this kind of comparison is stupid.

Not only that but with all that modding, it barely managed to beat the GTR. I was expecting it to be way ahead. Guess not…

I almost feel violated and offended that this comparison was ever done. I don’t own either car, but its just a stupid comparison.

Whats next? A race between a toaster and a Zonda?

Now lets see the Escalade on the track…
/100 flips and disintegrates in midair

The point is, you can’t haul everything and a kitchen sink in a GTR. So, you wanna go fast in a straight line, haul everything, AND have more dollars than sense? Viola. Your whip has arrived. For everyone else, it’s about as useless as tits on a bull.

    • Alex says:

The GTR has four seats, navigation, and probably just as many features as the Escalade, if not more – so what are you talking about?

Not to mention (aside from all the obvious), the GTR you can take to a track (because it *silence*… actually turns) for a day, then come back home at night, all safe and sound. Meanwhile the Escalade, well, lets hope you have a lot of friends to help you roll it back so its facing right-side up again.
