Ever wonder where all those Teutal family choppers from the OCC finally end up? Well, if they’re owned by Mark Messier–the answer is on eBay
But don’t worry. It’s for a good cause.
For those who don’t live in Canada and watch hockey, Mark “The Moose” Messier is the second leading scorer in NHL history, played for six Stanley Cup winning teams, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007. Mark has also been a long time advocate of the Hackensack University Medical Center and Tomorrows Children’s Fund.
And so when Mark was presented with this gorgeous trophy bike honoring his contribution to the sport of hockey, he thought perhaps children might be able to appreciate this Moto-Mona Lisa. Originally, he intended to set up the bike with a replica Stanley Cup mounted on the back and allow kids to have their pictures taken in front of a hockey-themed mural. However, for obvious safety reasons, and in consideration of children with physical disabilities who would be unable to participate, Mark decided to sell it to raise money for the hospital.
While a standard OCC bike will run you 60 grand, this particular bike bears special significance, like Mark Messier’s autograph and a list of his Stanley Cup victories etched into the tank, not to mention the opportunity to raise money for children suffering from cancer and blood disease. The Buy-It-Now price for the chance to help children, and come away with a piece of hockey history as well, is set at $125,000.
All interested philanthropes out there are encouraged to check out the auction going on on ebay. The rest of us can just enjoy the pictures.
