Recently, a report from the Associated Press (motto: “All the essential global news”) detailed the unfortunate legal predicament of Cleveland Browns fan, Mike Meredith, and his motorized sofa. A self-proclaimed couch potato, Meredith fashioned his “Go-Kouch” (instead of go-kart, get it?) using a standard sofa and the engine from a riding lawnmower, apparently so that he could enjoy the game, as well as the pre-game festivities, without leaving the comfort of his living room. Usually choosing to motor around the Browns’ stadium parking lot rather than venturing out onto the open road, on November 23, Meredith apparently got a wild hare and decided to actually drive the couch to the stadium.
En route, Meredith encountered several police officers who good-naturedly waived him through traffic. Unfortunately, Meredith also happened upon an officer who was apparently a Steelers who proceeded to slap Meredith with citations for driving an unregistered vehicle and having expired license plates.
In court, Meredith plead not guilty to the charges and plans to enlist the help of the officers who granted him clearance to help maintain his innocence.
